We have having a group baby shower at work next week. It's going to be cake and pot luck at lunch. Here's the dilemma
Mom #1 Someone a normally see daily at work. Have done group outings with her. She had to go out due to complications in her 7th month so we never got a chance to celebrate. She lives way out in the boonies so I never dropped anything off. She comes from money so I am sure her mom has showered baby girl with all the needs. I'd like to get her something cool, not practical.
Mom #2 Another one a work close with and hang out with sometimes. We don't know sex of baby, she's due in 10 weeks. She is actually having a baby shower of her own (sister is hosting) this weekend but I am on call so I can't go. Her needs are more practical than mom #1.
Mom #3 Someone who works in surgical services but I only know her from passing by in the hall or locker room. I didn't even know she was pregnant. I'd like to get a token gift, something small.
Dad #4 Yep dad, his wife is pregnant, don't really know either of them He came from the consultant company that our interim director is from. He does data analysis, he doesn't even live in this town. Same as #3, just something small, but has to be able to fly with it.
#1 - How about something that would commemorate her newborn - something to look back on at how small baby was as a newborn? Her baby's footprints on an ornament, for example. Maybe a day of babysitting so mom can go out and pamper herself.
#2 - If she's close enough, something practical she might enjoy would be a bunch of meals dropped off so she doesn't have to cook. Diapers, to me, would also be a much appreciated practical gift.
#3 - Onesies, burp cloths, etc. Small and practical. Maybe a fun rattle for baby.
#4 - Something a male friend of mine really loved that was DH's idea - Dad's root beer. He loved that it was his first thing that said 'Dad' on it. As far as I know, he still has the empty bottle.
Mom #1 monogrammed rattle? Or maybe a really nice baby book. I am not good with "cool " gifts.
Mom #2 Diapers. But get a size bigger than newborn. And maybe a bag of things new moms don't think about. Like infant Tylenol and infant clippers. The little things that you don't know you need till you need them.
Mom #3 Baby booties. Or some bibs.
Dad #4 same thing as #3.

Well they (the bosses) said don't feel obligated to get gifts. But I do want to gift the first two. #1 baby is 2 months old now. Mom is having a hard time coming back to work and leaving baby so I haven't seen her. #2 isn't due for 10 weeks but she's having some sciatic issues so she may be out soon. Don't know when the other 2 are due. I can gift the first two privately but I still need ideas. I did find some adorable little girl stuff at the Osh Kosh store that I could get #1.
Oh NAOW, they have those in stickers now! SO cute. Look:

They have all kinds! Ones that say First Christmas, First Mothers Day, Fathers day, blah blah blah. I think there are three different sets. You just stick them on a t-shirt and take the picture. So adorable.

I really like hand-made pretty burpclothes - you can get some on Etsy. The are usually pretty inexpensive and you could probably ask someone to make you a bunch and divide them up. To go with them, for Mom who has everything - I'd get the baby a nice hardcover picture book. For practical mom, I'd get Aquaphor, diapers, wipes.
For the other two - a burpcloth or 2 would be fine, maybe wrap it cute, or add some adorable baby socks. Baby socks disappear so fast.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
Oh...I'm dangerous when there is a baby shower. I have about a thousand things I can do...
These were for my niece, who is due any day now. Can you guess the color they decorated the nursery, lol?
DH cropped the newborn shot of my other niece's baby and dropped it into that background. We printed the plaque that goes into the cross.
We are also going to be showcasing "Gender Reveal" and Birth Announcement mugs in our shop, where we print the ultrasound or a newborn pic with text. We have pink trimmed and blue trimmed mugs.
