A Sheldon man was charged with public disorderly conduct and giving false information to law enforcement Tuesday after he allegedly defecated on a Lady's Island road, set the offending material on fire and lied to deputies about his identity, according to a report from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's deputies responded to Little Capers Road around 9 p.m. Tuesday after an anonymous caller said a man had removed his clothes in the street. When the deputies arrived, they found a small pile of debris on fire and a man nearby, the report said.
The man told the deputies he had "doody" in his pants and had taken them off to clean them. He then set the material on fire because he didn't want to throw it in the woods, the report said.
The man refused produce identification. After giving them a false name and claiming he lived in Orangeburg, the deputies used an electronic fingerprint scanner to identify the man.
