Saturday; sometimes a non work day - other times...

Ok starting this thread because I have a BOD Webinar all day tomorrow so won't be on much.  It's funny, I realize how important my non paying positions are, almost as much as my regular job.  I serve on two BODs, this particular one is career related.  I am passionate about the success of this professional society.  We are struggling with membership numbers.  Other BOD members are listening to my ideas.  I feel like this is my niche.

Anyway, I have to on all day then prepare for the next 12"+ of snow.  Yay!

Well, that doesn't sound like a fun, relaxing Saturday. I hope your Sunday is better!

It normally is depressing having to give up a Saturday to virtually attend, but given I only had two work days this week, I'm not dreading it this time.  Plus the next meeting is in San Diego and my boss wants me to attend in person. :biggirn: The only thing is it means I have to go to the grocery store tonight.  We have a lot more snow moving in starting tonight.

I slept in! I feel rested but still want to be lazy. Really can't start any projects since the phone might ring. I hope your webinar isn't too painful IKWTDS.

Speaking of rings, my family ring fell off my finger and the garbage disposal attacked it. One stone missing (a real sapphire) and lots of nicks. I feel bad about it. DH and the kids spent a lot of money on that ring. It will cost close to $400.00 to repair. GAH!!!!
IKWTDS, at least you are home for the webinar, sorry about all the new snow coming your way. You must be sick to death of this winter.

Good morning all!! Hope it's a great day for all the geeks!

I have a big decision to make. The car I drive is actually owned by my dad. They are doing some vehicle shuffling, and he's offered for me to use his GM bonus cash towards a new car of my own. I don't know what to do! I like my current car and there is nothing wrong with it. But it has 110,000 miles on it. I would kinda like a new little SUV, but do I want to take the hit on MPGs? But then, I only drive a hundred or so miles a month, so it wouldn't really be a huge difference......I don't know what to do!

Morning! Well ok, afternoon.

It is 48 and going to 61. Full on sun! Things are trying to green up. Rain for the next two days. We are about to begin our allergy season. Have to get the boys going on their daily treatments.

I want to go to Hobby Lobby but I know I would just end up spending money.

I do have to go to the grocery store. Was going to go yesterday but something came up and had to cut the trip short.

And bacon is one of those auto buy items, doesn't even need to be on a list.

Hope every one has a great day and I hope the snow lets up soon.

42 days till Spring!

Corvettes are fun but after riding in them, I wouldn't own one.

If I could buy any new car I wanted without worry it would be a Cadillac SUV. I love a Cadillac.

Not the biggest one, but the one the next size down.

Back from running errands. Meijer was crazy busy...I know how it gets on a Saturday afternoon, so I only have myself to blame. I got behind a guy who was buying 30 boxes of markers, 30 boxes of crayons, 30 folders...which the cashier had to ring up separately.

Then I visited DH at work. Itty bitty was not home, so hopefully I can see her tomorrow morning.

Something hit the back windshield of our brand new car and shattered the entire windshield and its just an open space right now. I called the insurance company, they referred me to a glass specialist in the area, and it could be 3-5 days before we get a replacement. Because the car is new, they don't have any replacements in stock and they have to order it.

DH is NOT happy, but taking it well considering all we have going on this weekend. I thought he might blow a gasket when I showed him. But he was calm as could be. I told him I would handle all the details so he didn't have to think about it. Which is ok...except we are expecting freezing rain tomorrow night.

We have a clear piece of plastic over it now.

Yes, but we have no where to park the car out of the elements. And the closest rental place is about 45 minutes away...and we literally don't have a spare second to go get it until Monday. We are out of range for the places that drop off the rental car as well. Drawback of living in the sticks #165. Lol.

Doorbell rang at 3:15 am....yes, AM (cue dogs barking). We had just about decided it was a short or something when there was a distinct knocking. DH gets up and walks down the hall. Tiny rat terrier is sitting on the foot of the bed, on guard.

I hear DH talking to someone, then the door closes, and he comes back down the hall. Turns out it was one of the local independent taxis. With a 12 pack of Bud Light. Said he had a beer delivery for our address.

Ummm, nope, not ours...did you mean 1234 Island STREET (we are Island DRIVE)? He didn't know. And the house at the other address is a rental, meaning the new tenants (it turns over every 6 months or so) didn't bother to specifiy STREET and not DRIVE.

He apologizes and leaves.

Now a few things come to mind...I am glad that whoever needed more beer at that hour had the good sense to not drive to get it. I'm also glad I don't run a taxi that doubles as a beer delivery service.
And finally, if you run out of beer at that hour, seems like you should probably call it a night and go to bed...

Wow.  That reminds me of the sound judgment (not) of my ex when he had been drinking.  He would drink himself into a coma.  A taxi, seriously?  Amazing!

I was checking that out. I also like the Buick Encore. But I'm not sure I'm up for its price

and an SUV seems like such an adult car. Am I ready for that??

I bet they paid more for the taxi than the beer. We've used a taxi at work in special situations when we need something from Charleston or Hilton Head ASAP for a patient. It's quite pricey but it would take longer to drive round trip.

Ok finished my telecon, went grocery shopping, came home and made dinner for DD and her friend who is sleeping over. Made a fire after trudging through 4 FT of snow to get wood. Funny the snow is so high that I am actually standing stooping down to get the wood as opposed to reaching up to the top of the 5 ft stack. I hope I brought in enough for the next few days. I am zonked again. Oh well, as Lily says, spring is only 42 days away! evileye
