DD got emails from 2 great schools after the college showcase last weekend! They both want her to visit their schools and see if they would be a fit. She is excited. It's one of the first times she has been noticed on her own terms and not because she is DH's daughter and everyone knows him. So proud!!

Hopefully we can afford these schools after they pitch in some bucks!

Today is my Mom's birthday - 78 years old!  I drove to see her today (with Honey, her Grand-dog, of course) and we had a nice time.  I've put up a pic for awhile in the 'show yourself' thread.  smile

Thanks, SB!  Honey got to bring home (believe it or not) some Alligator jerky treats.  Step-dad carries unusual stuff to differentiate his store from (and fight the small-business-fight against) Pet Smart and others.

You probably already know this, but here it is anyway:

Expensive colleges will tell you not to worry about the money, because they will provide "financial aid".

What they don't say is "financial aid" means "loans to the parents, secured by their home equity", or just "loans".

The only thing that matters is "scholarships" that  do NOT GET PAID BACK. Ever.

Make sure they clarify what they're actually promising.

I told DH I hadn't been eating enough protein lately and probably needed to go fix something like some eggs. So he's in the kitchen frying me up some eggs for egg sandwiches. Sweet him! Guess Valentines day came early!
