I think that's where DN and Sparkly ate dinner at tonight when they ordered these fries!

Good Lord. A little extra to spice them up? Hope they got a refund - I definitely would not want another order to replace them.....

They tossed them and just left it alone. They had brought dinner home and just didn't feel like messing with it. DH and I were giving them a hard time though.

My dog is so funny. He absolutely loves the snow and cold.

It's 2 degrees here now, and he has been sitting on top of a snowbank in the backyard for over 20 minutes, just drinking it in.

Flan, that just made me think of your doggie who was outside shivering in the cold a while back. I hope he is doing better.

Dam dam dam! Today was supposed to be roof-raking and getting rid of ice dams.

Not soon enough. I just discovered a leak in the foyer, water coming down the exterior wall.

Well, guess what we'll be doing all day? Glad DH and DS are both off. And glad DH knows what to do.

IKWTDS, is your roof raked? I strongly advise it. Save yourself the headache of roof leaks and extensive interior repairs.

Do your local towns have the capacity to deal with that, ohfour?

We've gotten 7 feet of snow in the past 3 weeks. But I'll take snow over ice any day.

Not in the least Blankie. Interstates are shut down and right now, we are getting an ice storm. Not snow, its literally pouring ice. You can hear it hit against the windows. We are expecting another 2-3 inches of ice.

And I'm out of diet coke.

Oh yuck, Oh4. I feel for you.

I hate ice storms.cry

We have been lucky. No ice so far, this winter. I hope we don't get any.

We have rain. Granted it is a very cold rain but it is still just rain. (sad face).

But I am so glad it isn't ice. At least not yet. Temp drops just a little bit and it will be.

Mom is on her way to take mawmaw to her doctor appointment. Mom packed a bag incase it got worse.

Bugs happen. They never charge extra for them.

I'm waiting to see what is going on with my mom. May not be going to work today. She has been acting sick since about Thursday, not getting up off the couch except to go to the bathroom. When she did get up on Friday, she told my dad she needed the walker. (They have one laying around from foot surgery she had several years ago - she doesn't normally use one at all). She got it caught on the door way and couldn't figure out how to move it. She seemed kind of out of it for a while, but then she would be fine. Last night we were supposed to go to my sister's for supper, but when I got there, she said it would be at mom and dads because mom wouldn't get up. We tried to get her to go to the hospital last night, but she refused, and refused to get up and show us she could walk. So this morning, she finally agreed to go.

We don't know if it might be a bad ear infection causing her to be dizzy and not want to get up, or she had another stroke, or with the way she was acting the day before, dementia.

She hasn't been taking any of her meds for 5 days, she is on BP meds, insulin, and some other things, which could be causing some of this too. So I'm waiting to see if they keep her at one hospital or send her to another.

Just got a text from my sister. The Dr. said based on how she presented, it looks like a major stroke, but he hasn't seen the CT scan yet.

Looks like it was a major stroke, so there really isn't much they can do except rehab. 50% of the right side of her brain is damaged.

I have a very high pitched roof.  My attic is actually a 3rd floor walk up.  I have maybe 6" of snow still on the roof, nothing too terrible.  Also, I had my 3rd floor rafters insulated a few years ago.  I get zero icicles and ice dams.  The only one in my hood that doesn't have those issues.

The wind is picking up here too. The gusts are enough to move the curtains. The windows are closed.

Our governor has ordered all the government offices closed. He is shutting down anything non essential.

The worse for us is coming as the temps drop and all this rain freezes.

Possible power outages.

Sorry to hear this, tlc. So, the next step is? Hospitalization? Assisted living? Take care of her at home? Does the Doctor give her any hope through rehab or is it too early to tell? You have a lot on your plate now. Take care and thinking of you.

Her cognitive ability is still good. She has loss of fine motor skills on left side. She can squeeze that hand though  so the are hoping that means rehab will work. She may be here for 2 weeks.

Thanks everyone. I think again she was lucky it wasn't worse. I don't know if this will give her the wake up call she needs to make the changes she needs to, or if she will continue the way she has. She is very overweight, has high blood pressure, diabetes, COPD, and not taking meds like she should. She is supposed to be taking Plavix for cholesterol, and hasn't been, which is probably why she had this stroke. It was calcium from plaque build up in an artery. She doesn't eat right - she thinks she does but eats huge portions, and doesn't exercise. She's had 2 previous strokes - a small one, then a TIA and that didn't motivate her.

I'm not really worried about her because she is doing well considering what happened. But I am feeling mad at her for not doing what she has been told over and over to do to prevent this and get healthier.

It sounds like she is in a bit of denial - she is like an addict, until she hits rock bottom (for her, not what would be your or my rock bottom) she won't change.

I am sending positive vibes your way. You have been through so much lately, I am hoping for strength for you to get through this.
