After I saw the picture in the other Monday thread,

I'm sorry I opened and read it. I'm not going back there .

It was 2.8 degrees here when I woke up, now it's UP to 10.0 degrees.

Should I defrost the cars?

We have a dusting of snow. Southern Indiana is getting lots, as is Kentucky!

How are you Trudy? Ohfour, are you guys getting any snow?

Last night I was watching my go-to, the weather channel. Looks like some of the south/midwest is getting a burst of snow and/or ice, and cold.

I hope your towns have good equipment, and I wish you cozy and warm.

I went out to get the newspaper, and to see whether there was ice frozen on the car windows...

With the low temperature, VERY low humidity and high winds,

there is NO snow or ice on the cars or the sidewalks. It seems to have all evaporated.

And the furnace seems to be keeping up. It's warm enough in the house.

Safety first. Always. They have good equipment and good sense.

Actually, the 4-foot-deep snow comes in handy if you fall off the roof.

(Just kidding, all the precautions are being taken so there will be no falling).

When is the snow going to end for you geeks in the northeast?
Still just cold here. I still do not like it!
Laundry to do this morning and I think it's a good day for baking bread. Better get on that job. ;)

I know you've had cold there, Czech. But have you had any big snow recently? I'm not hearing about any for you folks.

Is that a little strange?

I think you've sent all your snow to us, you rascal!

And snow-blowing my parents' property.

We're not offering to do their roof, though. Much higher and more dangerous than ours.

My mother will have to step up and hire that out. She's got the money.

Well, we are a sight for the neighborhood. DH and DS are up on the roof, DS raking it, and DH pouring buckets and kettles of hot water on the gutters, which is actually melting the ice dams. YAY! I am getting lots of steps in, walking back and forth from bedroom window to bathtub, filling the containers with hot water to hand out the window to DH.

Doggie is sitting on top of a 6 foot snowbank near the roof, watching it all. He is almost at eye level with the guys on the roof.

Gotta love snow!

Going to say it again. We just have rain.

But it is a very cold heavy rain.

I really want snow.

This will probably all become ice later.

I am fairly close to Czech and no, we have not had nearly the amount of snow we usually have. It's been fairly mild precipitation wise. It's been cold, but not even as cold as last year.

I think you guys east and south got it all! Sorry, not sorry! Lol

I'm trying to send it to SoCal. They need the moisture. And it would be fun to see their shock and awe over having that much snow and cold.

We have had our share of snow this winter. But it melts during the warm periods. Last snow was 5 inches two weeks ago, blew into hard drifts and is almost completely gone now since last week was in the 40's.

I guess we are suppose to get snow tonight. DD told me it was coming our way. Hopefully, just a light dusting.

Minnesota has been short changed this year. I see you are not complaining. Last year you got dumped on!

Not complaining at all!!! We still have the few inches that fell last week. It's never been warm enough to totally melt all the snow...there has always been a bit left on the ground, with grass juuuuust peeking through.

Last winter was bitter freaking cold. Not as much snow as I expected, but cold as heck. This winter has been warmer - and I a, NOT complaining about it at all!

When you have to crawl out the top of the window, to get out of your house, you know you have it really bad.

Winter of 1962... yuppers, that was a bad one.

I feel for you, IKWTDS. I remember how awful that much snow can be. no

We've spent most of the day raking off the roof, and melting all the ice dams.

We've stopped the source of the interior leak.

Just a small amount of water leaking down the foyer interior wall.

Might have to hack a hole into that sheetrock and stick the blowdryer up there for a while.

If that doesn't work, hack up the whole wall and re-board.

Could have been a lot worse.

Learned our lesson. Rake the roof EVERY time we have a few inches of snow, don't wait for the ice dams to form.

Gotta love this winter!

There was a news chopper that kept hovering above us, while we were on the roof. Kept coming back.

DH thought they might be filming us.

Either us or the building in the strip mall a half mile away with a collapsed roof.

The neighbor's friend was in the pizza shop in the strip mall, when a guy ran in screaming "everybody out!"

And the whole building's roof collapsed shortly after that.

Gotta love winter!

Blankie, the last time we had an ice dam in the gutter, was when we still lived in Ohio.

Wayne, and our neighbor, John, got up on the roof, with propane torches.

They melted that ice, pretty quick!wink

And, happily, they didn't burn the house down.biggrin

We considered it, but were afraid we might burn the house down doing it that way.

We used boiling water. Worked quite nicely.

When you have that much snow, I don't think you would have a problem.smile

If they did start a fire, they could put it out, pretty quick, with all that snow.

It worked, for us.wink

Oh my gosh, propane torches to melt snow on a roof?
I can not imagine having to do something like that!
Glad it turned out okay for you, blankie. Wow, just wow!

It was Wayne, that used the torch, Czech. Back in the day!biggrin

And, he used it on the gutters, to melt the ice. Gutters are metal, and not likely to catch fire.wink

It worked! He didn't burn our house down.biggrin

Okay, now I need to get a propane torch.

Ed, I'm having a problem with visualizing you up on the roof, brandishing a blow torch.  omg.gif

I might be warming the metal gutters from below.

I might risk going up 4 or 5 feet off the ground. (Okay, no I wouldn't, not since my cousin got badly injured while cleaning out her gutters.)
