Hey NJN, my niece's dog just passed. He had cutaneous lymphoma. Originally he was being treated for skin allergies. Have you looked into that for your dog?
Yes. We have looked into that! It takes about six months to get an appointment with the doggie dermatologist. They are really expensive. We don't really have the money to go to the vet right now. And from what we've read the treatment includes weekly shots. Most articles we read discourage the use of regular and excessive shots in dogs over two. Getting too many shots has been linked to cancer in dogs.
We've been treating her by washing her in an all natural solution DH found. We try not to medicate her too much because there are side effects to most of the meds. We also wash her blankets and stuff in Dreft. She's growing hair back and not itching as much. She still has a red area but it's not dry and flaky.

If we find out she has skin allergies we won't get her shots. Every study we've read has said that excessive shots in dogs over two increases the risk of cancer. So it's itching vs. cancer...
