Aside from milder weather I love that we can have a song like this for our Zumba cool down and no one will get their panties in a wad.

So true!

I love that no matter where you go, people are generally pleasant. They smile and talk to you and will help out without thinking twice about it.

That's true. They've done studies that said that people in the south are generally friendlier. Maybe we're just too darn hot to get all worked up?

Nah. It's all the sweet tea and gravy and biscuits.

LOL...

I think it is cause we just take our time and are more laid back. And we have more space for the most part.

And the sun. We have a lot of sun.

And color. We have color a lot.

Lots of things really.

I disagree with the color thing. In the winter stuff dies here and in the summer stuff dies here. I am pretty sure New England has a beautiful fall. We have summer and not summer.

The rest of it? Yep.

One reason why I like living in the South is . . . .

the use of common courtesies - by all age groups! A teeny-bopper will race through a door, and then come to a screeching halt, and turn around and hold the door for the next person. A youngster will help unload the basket of an electric cart behind them at the supermarket. It goes on and on.

I don't know about where you are. I am sure your extreme heat is a big problem.

Here, we are able to have flowers growing pretty much year round. And things are green more than not. After this cold snap, our yard will probably need mowing in a week or two.

But I know things are different every where.

I love the flowers and green.

Here in Georgia we have the advantage of having just about every type of habitat.

Mountains, beaches, plains, swamps, cities. Just about anything and we can get to all of it in less than a day from one end to the other.

This is true.  We have much more extreme heat than you do.

But is it a dry heat?

Never a dry heat here. 95 and 95% humidity is oppressive.

We have humidity. It's not sky high humidity but it's not exceptionally dry either. I've spent time in Colorado and they have NO humidity. I didn't even sweat even though it would be a hundred degrees. It was just so dry it evaporated off of you. Here you sweat but it's not so bad. I've literally seen it get up to 113-115 here and it's just crippling heat. It's like sticking your head in a furnace. I deal with it by just not going out too much. Especially when it gets really hot because it triggers my asthma. Summers are crippling here.

This happens in the north too. A lot.

I enjoy our southern geeks, but I get a bit sick of the "southerners are the only ones with manners" mantra. There are people with manners all over - you just need to open your eyes and see it.
