I suppose that should go on the Let's Eat thread! I love cooking. I need to go shopping though.

I haven't packed or moved myself in 20 years, but I have moved on the sly a couple times in my first life. I remember liquor store boxes were great. Clothes/sheets/towels can be used to protect breakables. Socks are great to stuff inside glasses. Laundry baskets and hampers are useful, too.
We used our towels to wrap picture frames and our wash clothes to cushion glasses. Socks are good too. We sprung for some wardrobe boxes from U-haul and just transferred the hung clothes to them and moved them.
Biggest help of all? LABEL LABEL LABEL. Label everything specifically so you don't have to dig to find. Kitchen, spices Bedroom, sheets Stuff like that.

The roads are getting white. It was 36 when it started, but it is 32 now.
My brother says they have ice. The trees are freezing. They are looking at possible power outages.
We went from a possible 1 inch this morning to up to possible 8 inches now.

The last move we did, we had an expense account with a limited amount of money. We got help from a relocation expert that DH knew. He said if you need to save money and are moving far (which I know chef isn't but it's good advice) pack it all yourself, hire movers to pack up a rented moving truck and drive it yourself to the destination, then hire movers to unpack the truck. We did that and it was amazing! Those guys packed the truck up like champs and not one item was broken (and I have a glass top dining room table). The unpackers were equally amazing and had the truck unpacked and stuff in the right rooms before I could even believe we had arrived!

My crayons were never that new for more than an hour.
And do kids still have crayons? I thought they all just color on their tablets, pads and phones.

When I was single and moved I moved just a short way. It was only about a fifteen minute drive. But I packed everything myself. They were so good. Loaded it all up and when we got there put all the boxes in the right rooms. They said I was so organized they put all the bed frames together for me.
Here's another tip. Get a ziplock sandwich bag and put all the screws to the bed frames in it. Then take packing tape and tape the screws and all the frame pieces together in one bundle. So much easier to move and the screws are right there when you unload.

Never moved so far we needed a moving truck or hire help.
Family just shows up with their pickups, vans and cars and with in a day everything is moved and mostly put away.
I use a move to get rid of all those things taking up space.
I can get rid of more than I move.

I heard you peeps in GA got snow today and school was cancelled in early afternoon. Hope you are all ok!
Pfft. School was cancelled last night b/c they expected snow or ice (at least not here). No snow or ice. Now, we've got freezing rain and sleet, and they haven't canceled school for tomorrow, yet.

No. We do not have a snow plow. It is shared between 3 counties.
