I'm planning to attempt to get out of the driveway today. I've been snowed in for TWO weeks. I don't know how those of you who have snow all the time manage it.
Good morning! Not sure what my day holds. I kinda want to go shopping, but not sure how the roads are. And I'm not going to later, so hopefully they will be fine by afternoon. I want some new things to take to Florida!
Dog has a grooming appointment this morning and I have return some sheers I bought yesterday, they don't fit on my fancy rods. I love my current sheers but the dog has snagged them from jumping up to look out the window. I also have to tamp down the snow in the path I dug for oil fill up. That's about it! Have a great day everyone!

Wow! We've had 7 to 8 feet of snow in the past month, but I cannot imagine being in the house for two weeks. Do they not plow the roads in your area?
Even when the roads aren't ready to drive on, I get out and shovel, or walk around outside.

Those of us with snow all winter have snow plows that clear things within a day of a storm, we have snowblowers/bobcats to clear driveways and sidewalks, and we know how to drive in snow, so we are never snowed in for long. I think the winter we had 5 years ago, it might have been 2-3 days we were snowed in because iit just kept snowing but that is really unusual.
Watching the movie that kept beach goers out of the water for a whole Summer. Can you guess what movie it is?
Not a lot going on around here. Just waiting on the rain.
Have a great day Ya'll.

Jaws!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hell, I'd still rather swim in a pool.
And just walk along the beach!
YUP!
I love the beach but I really don't care for getting in the water much. More than knee deep and I don't like it. Don't like the sand in my bra.
But I could sit in a chair just in the surf all day.

We're weather watching. It's still cold here and we're expecting more bad weather. Even our library has shut down.

You should probably take some time to walk around Wal-Mart and get your exercise!

Woo hoo, I got out!!! It took three attempts, but I made it to church and to the local Mexican restaurant. On the third attempt, I just gave that baby some gas and sailed over the ice.
I'm in TN, we're not used to snow, give us a half-inch and the whole city shuts down. Even though I live in the city, it's a very rural setting. My house is located on the side of a hill, to reach the road I have to go up a steep concrete driveway, turn left onto a gravel driveway that goes up and around a curve, then up anther hill. The entire driveway is canopied with trees so the snow doesn't melt very fast. Once reaching the road, it's downhill and curvy for over a mile before reaching the main road.
When it snows DH just parks one of the cars at the road and we hike in and out. DH is out of town and I didn't get the car moved before the lower driveway was icy, so I was stuck. I'd shovel snow in the afternoon only to have it freeze and snow again. It was frustrating at times, DH felt bad that he was gone and I was dealing with this. I had electricity and food, so it all worked out.
Just me and the boys here. Thinking about making some tacos and playing some poker. Little 5 card draw for pretzels and GS cookies. We have some Starburst too.
After the movie of course.

Doesn't that achievement feel great? You beat back that big bad storm!

DE, glad you finally made it out! Icy hill roads are a nightmare, I avoid them if at all possible. I bet you feel much better now. :)
Good afternoon all. I have ten completed 10inch square quilt blocks done! It has been a good day for quilting.
The sun is shining and it is warming up a bit today. March 1st isn't so bad so far. Hope the weather stays good, I plan on making a trip to see the grand baby sometime this week. The weather better not mess it up for me.
Hope you all are having a great Sunday.

LOL, how about you don't show fear by staying home and not dealing with it! Oh the young and their idealist ways. LOL

I actually agree with her. You have to have strict command of your vehicle and know how to drive in it and react to sliding. If you panic, you are going to crash. If you stay in control, you have a much better chance of coming out of a slide.

Spoken like a true Southerner. You have zero control over the other cars on the road, not to mention your own when it comes to ice. Us Northerners know this and the smarter ones just stay off the road.

I went into town for dinner. Once I got out of our neighborhood, it wasn't bad at all. Kinda wish I would have known that earlier, I probably would have gone ahead to the mall. Our driveway is off a private road, my dad is usually the one to plow it. Since all of us that live back here drive SUVs or trucks now, he hasn't bothered. We've all been fine and much less work for him

Well said IKWTDS, I was chuckling at some of the comments. If you're on glare ice, you're pretty much screwed, especially on a hill of any kind. Whether you're in control of the car or not. "Slippery" is one thing, "Icy" is another. Glad you got out DE!
Mr.VoR is leaving Iowa and will drive about 3 hours through Nebraska until he pulls over for the night. Said the roads are clear and the weather is fine. Relieved he made it thru Indiana and Illinois without problems. He's been gone 2 weeks as of today. Should see him Thursday!
I took a 2.5 hour nap. Must have been tired.

Their talking about some snow tonight and tomorrow, more in So, MN, SW WI and Iowa I think. Hope he misses it. Not supposed to be ALOT, but still hope he misses it.

Glad he'll be home soon.
Been spitting snow for a few hours here, will pick up over night, I assume I will have a delayed work schedule since I have to snow blow before I go to work. Eh. it's like taking the trash out these days, You plan and expect it.

I bought a potty for baby boy today. Let the games begin!
All 3 of my girls were trained by 18 months. The first was the hardest. Good luck!
C was too.
The boys took a little longer. But by 2 and half for sure.
I still kept a linin saver on their beds for a while.
The only real set back we had was when J became very sick. He was having extremely bad diarrhea and was in the hospital and they put diapers back on him. I completely understand why. It set us back a couple of months.
Good luck with it. Set a timer. Keep a schedule. Make sure the day care follows along and is on board.

LOL!!! My dad does that too. He will spend a day going around the whole block with the blade attachment on his ditch witch. He will do everyone's driveways too. I think he does it just to play in the snow.

I am SOOO glad I don't have to deal with snow anymore! My heartfelt sympathies to those Geeks having to shovel, and plow, and snow-blow!
Back in NJ, I bought an oversize blower (according to our friends). Guess who called on us whenever we got snowed in? Riiiight. Our next door neighbor would time it perfectly. He'd wait until I got the first path down the driveway, then he'd take over, complete our driveway, then do his own and the sidewalks. He always returned the blower with a full tank of gas :) Our friends would then take turns borrowing the blower. No more strained backs and aching muscles.

I thought he just turned one. Am I missing a year?
Yeah, me too! I hope you'll wait for signs of readiness, Bonny. Boys are usually later. 2 1/2 or so, sometimes 3.
DS1 was 3; DS2 trained himself much earlier.
flan
My DS was about 3. DD was 2 and 2 months. When they're ready, they're ready. If you force it before they are ready, you're really training the parent. And possibly creating future problems. DD had a little friend across the hall from us when she was a toddler. She had terrible constipation problems. We think it was because her mother started forcefully training her at about 18 months.
I remember DS wanted no part of it for a while. I bought him the potty for fun, and he would sit on it lid down, fully clothed and read his books. Eventually he came around when he was ready, no problem.
