Snow showers do NOT bring flowers - gardening question

Okay gang, as you know in my area we have a ton of snow. The yard snow has settled a bit, and is now down to about 3 feet high in lots of places, with banks higher than that.

I have  a lot of spring perennials in my yard, and just planted a bunch more daffodils and tulips last fall.

The crocuses and daffodils usually come up in late March and early April.

I'm majorly bumming about missing these perennials coming up, which obviously won't happen if they are covered with snow. My guess is this snow won't melt completely (on its own, that is) until April or May.

Most of the beds are surrounding the house foundation, and alongside the garage.

Do you think if I removed the snow from on top of these beds, that the flowers will come up with milder weather?

It would be a good idea to get the snow away from the foundation anyway, to prevent cellar flooding.

I was thinking of doing a little bit each day, and try to have a few beds snow-free by April 1st.

The tulips I'm not worried about, they don't bloom until May.

Whaddayathink? Is it worth the effort?

Yep. Worth it. But be careful. That snow is an ice pack now!

I think it's worth a try, Blankie.

Even if it doesn't help the flowers much, if it prevents the basement from flooding, it's worth it.

I will.

We actually have a lot of untouched snow in the backyard which is light powder under a top inch of crust. It's not too hard to shovel.

The front yard snow by the street - forget it. Hard as a rock.

I heard they are not allowing the space savers any more. Methinks it will be fistfights now!

Yep, took them all away. But really why don't they do park on one side, clear that side, next day switch. You know?

I expect that all my new plantings did not survive (as the snow plow drives by on cue). thousands in plantings, Not kidding. I have 9 arborvides that I will have to pull and plant something else, to other bushes/plants that went in last summer. I am beyond Po'd Thinking rock garden at this point.

Our water table is way too high to allow basements.

I don't know about having so much snow for so long but our daffodils are blooming after our snow last week.
