It's a show on the food network and I thought it would be fun to do here.
Basically it starts with a food. Then you expound on your best experience. Ready to play?
First up, the best seafood I ever had was....
The best seafood I ever had was at this little hole in the wall place on Jekyll Island. It was a seafood platter and it was actually served on a serving platter. It was big like you would get large pizza on it.
It had 2 different kinds of shrimp, fried and steamed, there was fresh flounder baked and had a very light, almost not there crusting to it, a fried cod, clams and the most succulent scallops brushed with a very light garlic butter.
My dad and I shared it and couldn't finish it. It was the best I have ever had.
Ok, your turn.
The best seafood I ever had....

The best seafood I ever had was when I was a kid and my father would go fishing. He would fish in the morning, come home and clean the fish and cook it up for dinner. He was a damn fine fisherman and seafood cook!

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
I did not grow up eating much seafood since Mom hated it. Tuna fish and fish stick were the extent of what she would allow cooked in the house. Needless to say, I was not a big seafood eater.
Fast forward to being in the islands with DH and DSS. We stopped for lunch at The Beach Bar on St John, USVI. DH orders a burger, DSS orders a burger, I order Fish (mahi mahi) & Chips. DH looked at me like I was crazy since I never ordered seafood before in the 12 years we had been together. I was sure that was what I wanted. It was so good. We have not been back there since but I can still taste just how good and fresh it was.
Best tasting seafood - for certain was at Lola, Michael Symon's (Iron Chef and on The Chew) restaurant. It's in Cleveland and we went there for DD's college graduation celebration dinner. I got the scallops and they were done to perfection and seasoned just right. Scallops are so easy to over cook/under cook and also over season. These were freaking perfect. No words.
Best seafood experience - at a restaurant at Lake Erie when DD was 3. I ordered lobster and when it arrived she jumped up onto her chair and yelled "don't eat Sebastian! You are eating Sebastian! Stop! Don't eat him!" She was convinced I was eating Sebastian from The Little Mermaid. DH took her to the live lobster tank and told her those were Sebastian, but she didn't believe him - those were brown and the one on my plate was red just like the movie. I was mortified, her older sister was mortified, DH and the rest of the restaurant patrons were laughing and talking about how cute it was. I was not amused.

Living in the Northeast it's hard to choose a "best ever" because there are so many places. The best scallops I ever had were at Tavern On The Main. My mouth's watering just thinking about them!

The best ~
Oysters and Oyster Stew: has to be at The Oyster Bar in Grand Central Terminal in NYC. You watch them shuck those delicious morsels right in front of you. They cook the stew in decades-old cast aluminum pans, heated with steam (super hot), and if you're a regular, occasionally you'll find 3 or 4 extra oysters in your bowl!
Scallops: Fried scallop sandwich on a bun at The Dakota Diner on Staten Island, NY. Perfectly, perfectly done! Crisp, moist, tender, huge, and affordable!
Fresh Fish: here at home, with my DH cooking it! It was swimming less than an hour ago!
Lobster: The Lobster Fest at the Manor, in East Rutherford NJ. All you care to eat lobster, plus prime rib, leg of lamb, mounds of oysters, clams, shrimps, oh my you could seriously over-eat here! You get a perfectly steamed lobster half, plus two claws each time you go back to the serving table. Expensive ($45 p/p) but well worth it!
Mine wasat a Alamo steak house in Pigeon Forge Tn.
It was perfectly medium rare. Not bloody at all. Perfectly cooked. Melted in my mouth tender with just the right amount of chew to it. It had an herb butter melted over it. It was served with the best creamed spinach ever, warm, creamy, deeply satisfying. And a pile of fries, perfectly crisp and fluffy warm Seasoned with dusting of sea salt and garlic salt.
Dessert was cheesecake. A thick, creamy smooth cheesecake.
There was no sauce for any of it. Didn't need anything. No ketchup for the fries. No drizzle for the cheesecake. Everything was perfect.

Best seafood was in San Francisco. SF ruined me. Any other seafood is mediocre compared to that. Same with Chinese food. Once you have it in Chinatown, it's difficult to be satisfied.

Lesson learned in February: I don't have to keep up, I just have to keep moving!
The best prime rib I have ever tasted came from some dive "supper club" near the Wisconsin Dells almost 20 years ago. I'd never heard of a supper club before, nor since. Oh my, the meat was fork tender and had the best taste. It was served by an plump grandmother type lady that just "honey" and "darling" us to death.

All the nice restaurants around here are supper clubs. It's hysterical.

BUT the best Oyster Rockefeller hands down is the Union Oyster House in Boston. They are so good I can't order them anywhere else for fear of ruining the memory. The Union Oyster House is the oldest restaurant in the U.S.

My SIL is Chinese. Her Father was a cook, mother shops in China town. How I loved to eat at their house! none of that Americanized Chinese food crap.

I got the scallops at Lola in Cleveland too! I've only been there once, but it was fantastic. I plan on going back this summer.
Best bread pudding ever: at the Elephant & Castle restaurant in downtown Boston.
It's a British pub, and we wandered in on a very rainy, raw, November evening, sat by the fire, had a delicious dinner, and the meltiest, most scrumptious bread pudding ever.

I have had rice pudding that would make you roll your eyes back in your head. My great maw maw made the best rice pudding ever. And I have just almost cracked her secret for it. My mom and mawmaw both said it was the closet to hers they have ever had.

Best seafood: Fresh caught sculpin is pure awesome. Sautéed with a light herb butter and seasonings - yummy! For restaurants, I'd have to go with the catfish po'boy from Johnny Reb's. I love that place and wish they'd build one in AZ. I make yummy salmon when I can find a good fillet here.
Best steak: The only restaurant at which I regularly order steak is Benihana since they cook it properly. I get their steak and chicken dish. I like my steak rare and Benihana delivers a perfect rare.
Best bread pudding: Never had it. The texture is off-putting to me.
