We were at lowes earlier and we decided to walk through the refrigerator section. I found the coolest model! It had the freezer on the bottom but it was french doors on the top as well as the bottom. It was soooo pretty! It was in the discount section. It had been returned and repaired. It was "on sale" for $3,000, marked down from $4,000. I can't find it online anywhere. I can't even find an image. I'm wondering if it was a custom build. It was made by Whirlpool.
We have one with the freezer on bottom. I thought I would love it and it would be easier to use.
It isn't. The drawer doesn't hold as much. It is shaped strange. It has a slant to it and it has a basket and that takes up space.

I don't like any of the drawer models I've looked at. My freezer on the bottom is 14 years old. It's a big door and it has two big shelves which is nice.
Yes!! Just like that. It's the only freezer on the bottom with doors instead of drawers that I've seen. Mine is one big door.
I have an LG french door fridge with the freezer on the bottom. two of the glass shelves in the fridge half fold back for when you have tall stuff, not talking 2 litre sodas, but edible arrangement tall! The freezer has two pull out drawers and the bottom big bin divided into two sections. I really like it. And brand new it was 2800, cheaper with my discounts. 3K for a smelly fridge is way too much.

P.S. I'd never pay 4k for a fridge unless I had a much nicer house.
My fridge is a larger one. 33 1/4 inch wide. I love it. half the time is almost empty but the other half, during holidays and summer grilling season, it is full.

I'd get a side by side if I had room for a chest freezer.
No room for a freezer, in Texas houses, SB.
And, side by sides, suck, if you have a bad back.
Conor and Jessi got one. It isn't terrible.
They got a Whirlpool.
And, as side by sides go, it's not bad.
Would I want it? No.
But, it's pretty nice.
When we moved from our old place to here I owned the fridge in my old house. I also had a chest freezer in the garage. We brought both of them with to the new house where they provided a fridge. So now we have an extra fridge in the garage along with a chest freezer. I love them both. The fridge is awesome on holidays and also when Sams has sales and we stock up. Love having a chest freezer too. We buy meat on sale and keep it in there. It's great for things like buying turkeys when they go on sale and being able to keep them around. I wouldn't live without a chest freezer. And I've gotten pretty attached to the extra fridge as well.

DH and I both hate my side-by-side - you can't fit even a small pizza in it! Alas, no butdge in the foreseeable future for a new fridge. I'd love to have a French door refrigerator, with the freezer on the bottom - especially during holiday times, when I need to refrigerate a large turkey/dessert/beverage.
I don't care for my side by side. It is awkward for frozen stuff like pizzas and I just don't like the spacing and crowding in a tall thin stack versus a traditional frigde. The next one I get will be the the French door with freezer on the bottom and I will NOT get an ice maker or that water thing. It takes up a huge amount of space and we never use it. For all the ice cubes we use, I will make them or buy a bag of ice at Sheetz.

I think ice makers are a Southern thing. I couldn't live without mine. We use ice in every cold drink.
I think so too. But you have to have good filters or you get that strange taste.

It's an European model. It's like five figures it think. And if you notice, no freezer.
But it is sexy.

My parents had that refrigerator in Cali. They hated it. They couldn't reach the refrigerator when the freezer was open, and you had to bend down every time you wanted to get something out.
I agree about the side by sides. While I have one and I love that it has water/ice in the door, I have a top/bottom one in our basement for larger items. Before I had the top/bottom, it was a pain to buy turkeys for Thanksgiving because I either had to pick up a frozen one on a certain day to allow for thawing, or buy fresh a day or two before the holiday.
We do replace our smoke detector batteries when the clocks change. Which reminds me...
I change the furnace filter much more frequently due to allergies. Mine was replaced early December, and I just went down and it was filthy, so I changed it again today.
Ugh. The new house has an appliance package, but the fridge is a side by side. I don't like it, but it would be about $800 to upgrade. After reading all of this, I probably should do it...
I am in the minority I guess because I like my side by side. I love my ice maker & water on the door. I fit a 20" pizza box in there recently so mine must be bigger than some but it can't be too big because it wedged in the space where the original fridge was (barely). Two of the shelves slide in to half size if you want put something tall in there. I never have.
My mom has that bottom drawer freezer & it is a pita bending over & leaning in every time you want ice. No thanks. I'd rather just push my glass against the lever & have ice.

I would pay $1000 to not have a side by side. In the grand scheme of the things you will be buying, this will be the most used item and it will pay off everyday. Trust me! Side by sides suck! Lol

I can pack mine pretty full but I do have a second side by side in the laundry room that I use for extra freezer space. I rarely use the refrigerator on that one.
2 refrigerators are great. We have a regular frig in the basement. That is plenty of extra freezer space. I like the extra fridge space for drinks, water , extra gallons of milk etc
I don't understand the hate for side by sides. I find mine quite convenient.
Haters gonna hate!
Says the woman who hates her ice & water on the door. I don't know what I'd do without mine. Sometimes I even run out of ice & have to refill it from the one in the basement.

I can't store the good, big frozen pizzas in them. That is my main complaint.
I don't know what kind of pizzas you buy but I can store the California Pizza Kitchen ones in my freezer. They & the individual Celeste pizzas are the only ones I buy. If I want pizza I order it.

What are you doing with all that ice?
I totally load the glass with ice & then pour the beverage in around it. And do it every time I refill. My cats get ice in their water. I like a lot of ice.

One of my dogs like to play hockey with ice cubes.
