I try but you have to see her needling and hypocrisy.
I rarly engage her first.

Yes here you are still talking about it. Just let it go. Aren't there bigger things to be annoyed or pre-occupied at?
Still talking about it. This is the first time I said anything on this board about it.
I was outright called a bitch.
Yes. It pissed me off. NOTHING was said about it.
But she gets to sit in judgement of another poster who made a general comment?
And like I said, I rarly engage her first.
If you have a problem with it you can just and ignore too you know.

It's funny. It's a joke not a slam. People have zero idea of what true sexism is. This is not it.
lily, we've had multiple threads addressing sexism. Each time it seems your idea of what isn't sexism is at odds with I think it is. What is your idea of what true sexism is? This is asked with the utmost respect. I'm actually curious.
Real sexism is when it is used to hurt and hold back. Blatant sexism like not getting a job when the only reason is your sex.
and that happens so rarly now.
The equal pay thing doesn't bother me? Why? Because no one gets the exact same pay. It isn't a list that is checked off.
Things like this label is not anything more than a joke.
Being asked about "girl" things doesn't bother me. Assuming I know less about "guy" things doesn't bother me.
There are so many things people are offended by now. You can't keep them straight. And honestly, I am tired of trying.
The unequal pay doesn't bother you? That's blatant sexism.
But that isn't such a cut and dried issue, either. The "77%" figure that is often thrown around compares women's to men's wages as a whole across all occupations.
Thus, the first difference is occupation. More men are in higher paying fields in general--engineering, scientists, doctors--but even in more labor intensive jobs, more men are electricians, plumbers, and carpenters which are higher paying than clerical work or food service, for example, which are more female dominated.
Second, in the past, more men went to college. That is not the case now--but it will take several decades for that to translate through the labor force.
Women are also more likely to prioritize raising a family--they take part-time work, they have "gaps" in their career record to reflect time they took out of the work force for child-rearing, they even turn down promotions for more demanding jobs more often for this reason.
If you truly break it down by exact occupation with similar education levels and experience--women make about 97% of what men do. Still a gap--but not nearly as large as many would have you think.

Well, I could agree with you--but then we'd both be wrong.
