Today turned into the Monday from hell.
I got the batting down, a mat laid out, grabbed the quilt top from on top of the ironing board, fluffed it out and immediately noticed that a chunk was missing from a corner, a very ragged chunk. THEN I noticed several slits in both ends of the quilt. By now I am in tears.
A five year old (who just had a birthday) and shiny pretty scissors do not go together very well. If she had been here, she would have gotten her bottom smacked.
I'm still in tears when DH walks in. He hugs me and does the best he can to comfort me. Then he starts talking about solutions for fixing the quilt, hands me $200 and sends me to a quilt shop with the damaged quilt. He was hoping I could find the same materials and remake it.
So down the road I go, still in tears.
The lady's at the quilt store were as shocked as I had been and were wonderfully helpful with possibilities for repair. Unfortunately they did not have matching batiks, but a close match for new edging. I did have enough left over material for new blocks. I also bought a new kit just to make myself feel better.
On the way home, I kept going over the possibilities and the amount of work required to repair the quilt. This is where you get to know I hate math. But, I think I can repair it completely with what I have left, just a few more seams.
I have both ends ripped off, five blocks off, four replaced and in the process of working on the fifth block. I think I can make the trims work, just might be a half inch smaller all the way around.
Did I tell you I hate math?

I can do math love it.  Just send me dimensions and scuh.

I always rolled the child to their other side when they were having night terrors and I would talk as soothingly as possible. But, yeah, scares the cRap out of ya.

Thanks, IKWTDS. I can do the math, I just don't like to do the math. I'm easily annoyed. wink

Today has been the internet day from hell.

Internet - 3. Tig - 1

Had to uninstall Norton 360 because it thought all the Windows PC updates were viruses and blocked them, and then tried to uninstall the ones that DID install.

When did you last run updates for Norton 360? I've never had that problem.

Oh noooooo!!! She probably thought she was "helping". Yikes.

You are so patient and kind for fixing it.

I run them at the same time.  This happened last time PC updated too.  Had to go to Best Buy to have them do an uninstall, reinstall, test sequence.  They warned me it would happen again, and told me that Norton was extra virus protection on top of the built-in Windows virus protection, so bye bye Norton!

Thanks, MM. I sure didn't feel patient or kind this morning. I wanted to smack the kid. She has an issue with scissors lately, her hair testifies to the problem. The child is now banned from my sewing area. Her mom was as upset as I was, but we will get over it.

Tomorrow will be a better day and I should be able to finish the repairs. DH is amazed at what I've gotten done already. Stubborn determination on my part.

If you can sew, you can quilt. Start with something small and easy. Come on over to the dark side. wink

Your crocheting is beautiful you know. smile

Here is my dirty little secret for the day. Dairy Queen was giving out free cones today. DH and I had no intentions of going. There are two DQ's even distance from us in the opposite direction. Not very far. Then DH decided he wanted ice cream. So we headed out and got a cone and were riding around the back roads and talking and having fun and decided we wanted another cone so we went to the other DQ and had another one. It was kind of fun.

My Monday was okay.  No crises at work, which was nice.

I called and scheduled myself for an MRI next week.  They will have to obtain a pre-authorization from my insurer.  I saw my orthopedist at his urgent care clinic yesterday and he wants to rule out a medial meniscus tear in my right knee as I am experiencing many of the symptoms.  I still have some swelling in my knee following the cortisone shot last month.  There has been no improvement since then.

Otherwise, the week is off to a good start!  smile

I haven't had this experience with Norton.  What version of Windows are you running?

Its too bad those preauthorizations can't be quick so we can make appointments and get on with it all.
