I would block the photos he posts. Then ask him to kindly omit your name from his "share" list when he posts.

Where do people get off thinking posting that crap and sharing with their "friends" is okay?

OMG, I just heard a horrible story. The wife of my brother's friend was diagnosed last year with breast cancer. She went through a double mastectomy & treatment. She just went to a surgeon for reconstruction. He reviewed her files & there was absolutely no trace of cancer ever. Somebody somewhere made a terrible mistake. The hospital already contacted them to make a settlement but the way VA law works the max she is entitled to is $2 Mill. I feel so bad for her.

That is freaking horrible.  If anything I hope people start getting second opinions.  Can't she sue the doctor separately for something?

Without getting too deeply into insurance law, if the doc is an employee of the hospital it is all under the same policy.  If he has his own practice maybe, but it was the pathologist who read the biopsy so I'm not so sure how negligent the doctor would be.

Besides the pathologist, wouldn't her oncologist also want to see those records before treatment? How did BOTH miss it and the reconstructive surgeon saw it? It would seem to me there is more than just one doctor to sue. Hopefully she can get the max from each one. How awful!

It's the strokes. He doesn't think clear. A few years ago he came out with some crazy accusations against my aunt and even my grandfather. I love him dearly. I'll just make sure the photos are blocked again.

Many times the specimen is sent to an independent lab even after the in house lab tests it.

Yeah I don't know all the particulars, since I don't actually know the people, just what my brother told me. What is so telling to me is the hospital approached them to settle before they even had time to digest the information & decide how they wanted to proceed. That just screams negligence to me.

He's been on disability over 10 years. Our uncle (our mom's brother) had a massive stroke at 40. Our great uncle was a little older when he died of a massive stroke.

My aunt, his mom, disowned him when he came out. She lied for decades about why we had no contact with him. It's really sad.

First, two million dollars is a LOT of money. It's very possible that a jury award after a trial would be less, and then the attorneys would get a big chunk.

Second, how does the new doctor KNOW that there was NO CANCER before the mastectomies?

2 million is not that huge. 15 years ago it was, but not now. Actually, a jury trial would probably get them more in this area, except that somebody said 2 million is the maximum per VA law. Medical malpractice juries usually sympathize with patients. Malpractice insurers know that, so they often force a settlement. That said,  there would be a small risk of the patient losing if it goes to trial. Settling will guarantee the payout.  In this case, it is very telling that the hospital wants to settle so quickly. There must be no doubt by hospital legal or risk management that the hospital or physician(s) screwed up.

Good bolded question, ed. If this were me, I would demand complete records and detailed physicians' explanations of everything.

SB, IMHO I think you should talk to your cousin about all the pics and such he is posting. He is probably driving away friends. It is not ok to post stuff like that regardless if you are gay, straight, transgender, etc. No one wants to see stuff like that constantly unless they are warped.

FWM, shut it on the first mowing!

What a marathon of an evening. First was the Dentist to start DD's filling of many cavities, they filled only one but did 4 sealants! They are rethinking how much work she actually needs Yahoo! Then we went to pick up her first pair of glasses. You would have though she was picking out a wedding dress. She brought her BFF with us so she would be the first person to see her in the glasses. They look great.

We finally got home and I planned on scrambled eggs for dinner since I knew DD wouldn't want to chew after her dental app't, well she blew me off for steak with her BFF and family. Oh well. the eggs were delish!

Yeah, too many of one thing regardless is uncool. I had pro gay people on my page and it was all good. Until they started posting 20-30 "Support Gay Marriage and Equality" posts a day. And some of the links and pictures were not very appropriate. I just deleted them. I also had to hide a friend of mine after her husband died. I love her to death but he died of cancer and she would literally post hundreds of cancer sites a day. I don't care if it's political postings, good postings, or bad postings. There's such a thing as too much of some things.

Did anyone else watch the Sound of Music special last night? We just finished watching it.

Several years ago we were in Vermont and Elizabeth Von Trapp was giving a July 4 concert. We were seated in the 2nd row. DS was so engrossed with her performance and she kept making eye contact with him. As we were walking away from the concert, Elizabeth came out the back of the building and literally chased us down the road. She said his spirit spoke to her and she just had to meet him. Now they are email buddies.

Elizabeth has a beautiful, crystal clear voice. She's currently in Austria recording a cd of Rogers and Hammerstein music.
