Hello Morphine, My Old Friend!

Well, not really, sort of.  Background, I've only ever had morphine once before this.

I had whatever stomach virus has been going around. It started late last Friday. I lost 10 pounds between Saturday and Wednesday. And I love that there's toilet paper with aloe.

that said, nothing I had taken OTC had even slowed my issues.  So I had a DH take me to the ER Wednesday morning.  One bag of saline, one Pepcid, one anti-nausea med Zofran, and morphine. I was finally a happy camper.  Relief.

Yesterday, I knew I was on the mend since I was starving for most of the day.  So, I finally had my first solid meal in almost a week.  I had a chicken patty on a roll.

I have never felt that sick for that long.  One to two days at the most.  and DH was wonderful.  He got me whatever I asked for even if it meant he had to go to the store at 10:00 on a Saturday night.  I did stay mostly hydrated by drinking/guzzling about ten 32 oz bottles of Gatorade.  I can't imagine if I hadn't.  I am still weak and tired but finally on the mend.

I'm glad you're feeling better, jbear.

It's nice that your DH took good care of you. Good for him!smile

Glad to learn you are feeling better!  It will take awhile to recover from being ill that long.  Just be sure to continue hydrating.

Glad you are better as well. Been there and done that. It's awful.

But it has been concluded that I can't take morphine any longer.

I know it's a bad habit, but whenever someone lists the meds they got in a hospital, my mind goes to "Which of those came from my company?"

All are generic injectible drugs ...

Zofran (Ondansetron), saline solution and morphine ...

we have about 1/3 of each of those markets in the U.S.

It's always gratifying to know that what we do actually helps people. I'm VERY happy you're feeling better.

Oh my! That bug was at out house in late January. Knocked me down completely for four solid days and then another three days to recover. Gatoraide was the only thing that kept me alive. DH was absolutely wonderful as well.
So glad you are on the road to recovery. Just take it slow, don't push yourself at all.

I understand what you mean.  DH works in IT for a pharmaceutical co except his does meds for specialty conditions for rare diseases.  At least you can see a difference without direct contact.

However, when we both worked at a QA Inspection co, I would always see the items that the company inspected (I did reports, DH did the inspections).  And DH would wonder about the welds on whatever vehicle we were in be it a train, plane or roller coaster.  Did not always make for a fun ride.
