So far so good - thank you for asking . . . Today will be my first smoke-free day at work. We'll see how it goes! I have lots of social support though, so hopefully I will survive!
You can do it!!! We are all here rooting for you! This is going to be your day!
LL - what a great feeling! Nothing is as exciting as shopping for house stuff too! Congrats!

I will see your thunderstorms and raise you a thunder snow. Yep. It's a real thing. And we might have some today. I have to get in and out of my car 20 times today and it's rainig/snowing. Blech.
On the good news side - I tracked down a decision maker for one of my chains today. I have been stalking him for almost a year. And - no surprise - he loved everything I had to say. I knew this chain would be perfect for what I had to offer them, but no one wanted to be the one to say yes. Well, he did say yes, and wished they could have gotten the program going sooner. Sigh. I know! I have been trying to tell you! Lol. It's almost comical.

My family is so white trash is ridiculous. I am so glad I escaped the mayhem. One cousin is beating on his gf because he as PTSD from the war and the family is enabling his behavior rather than helping him get help. My other cousin is letting her 14 year old smoke pot like its no big deal. And they wonder why he is flunking out of biology!

The best treasures can be found in the trash! Lol
yeah - my cousin has a kid who has "Mountain Dew mouth". Cousin put soda in his baby bottle and his baby teeth rotted out of his head. Then they found out his adult teeth had cavities as soon as they came in. All from the bottle filled with soda - because no one told them that might not be the best idea. Not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

Who gives a baby soda? Especially Mt. Dew that has super high caffeine content? I'm pretty sure if you polled a group of school kids they would know it is a bad idea.
We live in Ohio so it isn't as common as it is in other places. In parts of West Virginia, it's an epidemic. Babies are constantly being diagnosed with Mountain Dew mouth. West Virginia sells more Dew than any other state and they give it to their babies too. Ridiculous.

When I stopped in a small convenience store in rural MD they sold the baby diapers/formula in the same aisle as the liquor. It made me laugh & yet I was slightly off put by it too.
Where I live you are considered a bad parent if you aren't feeding your baby all organic hormone free food. I am not kidding. I know people who spend almost $10 lb on all organic free range hormone free chicken breast for their 2 yo. Others are of the no sugar variety.

Yeah, that's here too. We buy mostly organic GMO free when possible. But I still let him have the occasional treat. I dont' want him to feel deprived. He needs to learn how to eat treats/sugar in moderation. I feel like if you deny it they are just going to go crazy for it later.

We have that as well. But there are two very extreme ends of the spectrum here and not much in between.

I'm sure if I checked the SW part of the state it would be a very different story.
Once my kids were off formula they ate what I ate. Lots of veggies. I just used my ricer or my fork and mushed it until it was ok for them to have. Fruits too. Once they had teeth and could maneuver food in their mouth, meat was cut into tiny pieces for them.
I gave my kids soda. The pediatrician had no problem withit in small amounts. I would dilute it, 1 part soda to 2 parts or 3 parts water.
When they were sick and wouldn't eat, he said the soda was fine too.
Of course it wasn't bottles full.
Of course things were very different just 20 years ago.

Ohhhhh dear. I was just going to ask you how it went. Do I even want to know?!
Well, according to my ex I couldn't possibly have a child by him because we were never legally wed nor did we live together...
And the white trash... Sigh.

Well, the whole thing was stupid. I didn't say much. He dug himself in a hole. There's been a paternity test on file for two decades. He just made himself look dumb in front of the judge. Then he got angry and told the judge I won't have lunch or dinner with him. I won't go out with him. I won't socialize with him. Um, why should I? Our kid is grown. He's seen her twice. He's not her father. I'm not sure why he thinks I should socialize with him NOW. They asked for his statement and he went all crazy with the he never got to see her (his choice), he never got to see me (his choice), I moved away and changed my name to hurt him (I got married.) He's loony. And no, he wasn't always THAT crazy. When it came my turn they asked for my statement and I told them that while I had not been married or lived with him that paternity had been established and a child support order had been put in place and he had not been paying it. So there really wasn't much else to say. He filed for early retirement so they are going to garnish his check.

So this was about arrears? I don't think I would put myself through it. Wouldn't change anything.
I hope you get the results you want. Good luck with it.

Hi all, so much to catch up on! Been offline some. Congrats on still not smoking Tig. Sorry for the crappy weather. My Northern friends. Hope court went well NJN. Good luck seeing sister FWM. Prayers for JC's mom too.

All about arrears. $60k in arrears. She is an adult and can choose whether or not to have anything to do with him. I don't have to have anything to do with him. He applied for early Social Security and it is flagged in the system that he owes money. Any time you file for anything like disability, social security, or welfare, they will see that flag. Even some inheritances will be flagged. I had no choice in it. He really didn't have a choice in it either. It was pretty cut and dry. He owed, he was going to pay. Nobody really needed to say much else.
There was almost a throw down in the waiting room.

Well that's a nice chunk of change for her. What's she going to do with it? College or something?

It's for ME. I made and paid for her all by myself for her whole life. I continue to help when needed. So it will go to me.

This is why delinquent fathers get away with the crap they get away with. If there are no consequences why bother keeping your obligations? If fathers and mothers were held more accountable children might have a better chance.

Okay so here's the story. We were sitting right behind this mom. Mom had two boys. One five, one three months. Her ex husband was sitting further down the row. About four seats down. In between them sitting next to the ex husband was his new flava flav o deh mo. And sitting next to THEM was HIS mom who was there in support of her ex DIL. APPARENTLY, ex hubby was sleeping with flava flav while ex wife was still pregnant with the baby. He said since ex wife wasn't putting out it was perfectly fine that he cheated. POS g/f was a biotch. She was so mean to the kids whenever mom was out of ear shot. And the grandma was calling her son a POS and every curse word in the book. The poor kids were right there. The father was calling the mother a POS. The mom was the only one who was acting with any kind of class whatsoever but she looked frustrated and near tears. The g/f was saying that those kids were hers too since she was sleeping with the ex now. The ex said the wife had no right to be mad at him for having an affair. He talked to the kids like crap. He said he wasn't going to pay child support until he got his kids any time he wanted, anywhere he wanted, blah blah blah.
There was a black woman sitting in front of them. After about 45 minutes of the cursing she asked them to knock it off out of respect for all the kids in the waiting room. They mouthed off a little but shut up. Then the black woman got called back. As she was leaving the building this crew told her, "Don't let the door hit you in the azz." The black lady turned around and said, "I KNOW you're not talking to me!" A few more words were exchanged and then the black woman left.

If the state can intercept the checks, she will get it.
But in most cases the dead beat didn't pay with a court order before, without an interception, it won't get paid with another.

Actually this is almost word for word what the judge said. He said, No one would even THINK to put a down payment on a car, drive it off the lot, never pay another payment, and not expect consequences. When you have a child you have to continue to pay until your debt is paid off.
