Who was going to throw down whom?

Okay so here's the story.  We were sitting right behind this mom.  Mom had two boys.  One five, one three months.  Her ex husband was sitting further down the row.  About four seats down.  In between them sitting next to the ex husband was his new flava flav o deh mo.  And sitting next to THEM was HIS mom who was there in support of her ex DIL.  APPARENTLY, ex hubby was sleeping with flava flav while ex wife was still pregnant with the baby.  He said since ex wife wasn't putting out it was perfectly fine that he cheated.  POS g/f was a biotch.  She was so mean to the kids whenever mom was out of ear shot.  And the grandma was calling her son a POS and every curse word in the book.  The poor kids were right there.  The father was calling the mother a POS.  The mom was the only one who was acting with any kind of class whatsoever but she looked frustrated and near tears.  The g/f was saying that those kids were hers too since she was sleeping with the ex now.  The ex said the wife had no right to be mad at him for having an affair.  He talked to the kids like crap.  He said he wasn't going to pay child support until he got his kids any time he wanted, anywhere he wanted, blah blah blah.

There was a black woman sitting in front of them.  After about 45 minutes of the cursing she asked them to knock it off out of respect for all the kids in the waiting room.  They mouthed off a little but shut up.  Then the black woman got called back.  As she was leaving the building this crew told her, "Don't let the door hit you in the azz."  The black lady turned around and said, "I KNOW you're not talking to me!"  A few more words were exchanged and then the black woman left.

 Oh, those poor kids!

And I'm glad someone spoke up.

flan

I felt so sorry for the kids.  The five year old would kiss his mom and tell her he loved her and then kiss his dad and tell him he loved him.  Then the dad would say, Go tell your mom she's a bitch.  no  I wanted to hug the mom.

All about arrears.  $60k in arrears.  She is an adult and can choose whether or not to have anything to do with him.  I don't have to have anything to do with him.  He applied for early Social Security and it is flagged in the system that he owes money.  Any time you file for anything like disability, social security, or welfare, they will see that flag.  Even some inheritances will be flagged.  I had no choice in it.  He really didn't have a choice in it either.  It was pretty cut and dry.  He owed, he was going to pay.  Nobody really needed to say much else.

There was almost a throw down in the waiting room.

This is why delinquent fathers get away with the crap they get away with. If there are no consequences why bother keeping your obligations? If fathers and mothers were held more accountable children might have a better chance.

If the state can intercept the checks, she will get it.

But in most cases the dead beat didn't pay with a court order before, without an interception, it won't get paid with another.

You are wrong.  Sorry, I DO know about this.  Child support goes to the custodial parent for the child.  If you have supported the child their whole life with no help from the absent parent the money then goes to "reimburse" you for supporting the child 100%.  Which is how it should be.  And you can bet your sweet little bippy that if the government issues a garnishment on a government check they are going to take it out.

That totally sucks - but I am glad you will finally get something from this guy. You deserve paid back for all those years. Wait until he sees what little he has left after the garnishment - he will flip out!!! Serves him right.

I have heard similar stories of what happens in family court waiting rooms. I have always thought there should be video cameras in there, with audio, and that anything you say or do in there could be used against you (or FOR you!) That poor woman. She didn't deserve that guy. And if yo momma shows up to testify against you...shoot...just give up!

Exactly!  At one point the mom got so upset she took the baby outside to make a phone call.  It was just the father and his g/f with the five year old.  The father totally ignored him.  The g/f was hateful to him.  She kept telling him not to touch her and stuff.  When the mom came back in she was sweet as pie.

The she I was talking about is YOU.

I know about this stuff too. Only been living it since 1999. So I don't know why you are getting defensive.

Sorry I didn't make myself more clear.

Well, here's what I was told. Yes, we had a court order. But no they didn't go after him because he refused to work. They can't FORCE someone to work. Throwing them in jail doesn't make them want to work. So they don't even bother doing that anymore. But with the new computer systems, which came out in 1997, it linked everything together. They have limited resources so they go after the delinquent parents with income they can get. But it's not that hard once your name is flagged. Any income tax refunds, social security checks, and disability will be docked before you even see it and sent to the custodial parent.

I hate it for the kids, their little world is already shaken up, but to hear their douche sperm doner and his tramp calling their mother names makes me very upset.  Kudos to grandma for supporting her dil.

Well, the mom was calling her son names too. Right in front of the kids. So she was just as bad. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree as they say. And she wouldn't hold either of the kids because of her "bad back". Which I guess could be true but she had on leather pants, high heels, and a fur jacket. Just didn't seem the hurt back type. I could totally be wrong though. But the five year old asked her if her jacket was real and she had some really snotty answer for him. I really wanted to help the mom but I also am afraid to step forward because I don't want to be seen as a person wanting to kidnap or do something to a kid. People are kind of particular these days and I don't blame them.

Me.

I'm in a semi-break. I'll leave it at that for now.

Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers from all.

Day 4 completed. I survived work today. Lots of support from my colleagues, and another colleague is quitting with me in mutual support. She was suffering through day 1 today.

The behavioral triggers and the anxiety that I have always addressed by smoking are so far the worst. I discovered Jolly Rancher hard candies today. I have always hated Jolly Ranchers, but this seemed to reduce the I-Can't-Smoke panic. I might have to invest . . . .

Thank you for all the good wishes and support everyone!!
