I had preeclampsia as well, so it was crazy in the room.
I'm really not sure how you can plan to have a photographer in the room, when you never know when your delivery date will really be. This pregnant woman sounds like she has pregnant brain and maybe her husband is trying to be a little more level-headed in this regard?
Other than Santa and the Easter bunny there hasn't been any professional photos yet.
Lord, I think Sweetness has had professional picts just about every month since she's been born. They did the hospital ones (not during delivery), then she had a newborn shoot at home 2 weeks later. Then 4th of July picts, then 3 month, blah blah blah...

I get it, its just not my thing. But I also rarely dress Jake up. I haven't bought him any themed outfits either. Although he does where a lot of Detroit stuff since the family sends it.

They are usually already there. The hospital contracts them. My friend has to work one overnight every week. They take turns, making sure there's at least one person there all the time...

it's not my thing either. I think they are crazy to spend all that money on professional pictures. They hired one for her first birthday party, so they could enjoy and not have to take picts...
And they've already booked on for her second b-day party...

Wow. Interesting.
We had a family friend do our newborn pics which were taken when they were 2 months old, and she did one year portraits. She also attended their baptism so she brought her camera along. She also did 18 month pics as a gift for my parents. She submits her pictures and gets awards for them. A few of the ones that took awards were of my children or of me. That's about it. We get professional family photos every Mother's Day weekend when we go to the annual baby reunion hosted by the IVF clinic we went to. We also get a family photo with Santa Claus each Christmas. The boys get their school pictures taken, and have every year since they were 2.
I'm not down with a professional photographer in the delivery room. And all the other kiddie photo shoots won't be an issue either. The boy is a photographer, I'm sure he'll be taking plenty of pictures.
I would not have had a photographer in the room during the birth. I had a C-section so it wouldn't have been allowed anyway so good thing I didn't want one.
My mom was there for all of my kids births, mawmaw too. I wanted someone there with me and someone to stay with the baby once they was born.
Hubs was only there for the first. Had no idea where he was for second, and I didn't want him in there for the third. He waited out in the waiting and helped my dad with C and J.

Yeah. I don't think anyone is going to frame a 20 x20 of pearl jam.

So I just read this. And I wonder a couple things...
Would the photographer photograph a gay couple giving birth?
Who in the holy hell frames a 20X30 picture of their kid coming out of their vagina?
I don't understand delivery pictures. The ones like sweetness? Yes. Otherwise, no.
This is big business?
And the husband has a say in this too. This photographer sounds like she's just money hungry and wanting to justify people hiring her.

To each his own. If people want 40 people in the delivery room and professional photographers, then fine and dandy. Although, I do think there has to be some consideration about bringing an enterouge into the hospital and potential infection risks of all those added people and so forth. And, I don't know if there are issues about photography in the OR or hospital in general. Seems that could potentially cause some issues. And, personally I just think it is Dumb but that's my opinion.
