WARNING DISTURBING VIDEO: Man caught on camera punching toddler at Vest Market in Bakersfield
on.aol.com
A Bakersfield, California man who socked a toddler in the face has been arrested after video of his abuse went viral. The father of the boy is seen chasing his terrified child through the aisles of a convenience mart. When he catches up to him, he delivers a nauseatingly hard blow right to the boys face – dropping him flat. He then forces him up and panders the boy off to a woman – presumably the boy’s mom.

ABC7 News, which carried video of the disturbing incident, wrote: “In a video posted on Facebook on Thursday, a toddler is seen running around the Vest Market in downtown Bakersfield. A man comes running down the aisles, and then he's seen hitting the toddler in the face. The man then picks up the toddler and flips him around as a woman comes and takes the child away. The toddler is seen crying and holding his face.”
The abusive dad was identified as 23-year-old Justin Whittington. The incident took place inside of the Vest Market in Bakersfield, on Chester Avenue. Whittington has been charged with one count of child endangerment and is being held on a $1 million bail bond.
Adds the Daily Mail: “Harry, the Vest Market’s owner, said Whittington had come into the store previously, so he knew who he was. Harry was in the back of the store when his employee ran to the back and urged him to watch the surveillance video to witness the horrifying assault.”
Police later found Whittington and arrested him Friday at approximately 2 a.m. The boy was checked out at the home at the time of the arrest; police said he did not have any injuries that required treatment at a hospital.
“It was the right thing to do,” Harry said. “You don’t hit a child like that.”
This is WAY different than a parent trying to discipline their child or a parent just having a bad day. This guy is scum and the mom is too for allowing it. I hope when he goes to prison they tell everyone exactly why he is there.

So I can't say one way or another if I think it is abuse.
From the description it could be.

MM, my post was not directed at you!
flan
No. It was directed towards those who haven't even posted. So just a general dig and passive aggressive BS.

No sane person is going to call that discipline, Flan. That is very clearly abuse.
Well, Lily just said she couldn't tell if it WAS abuse.
flan
You have a serious lack of reading comprehension skills.

flan
Yes. Because she couldn't see the video. As she stated. I wouldn't call something abuse without seeing the video either.

Didn't have to watch the video. That behavior is awful. Of course with cameras every where, any bad act you may perform will be filmed. Stupid people. I hope that child gets through this.

Still waiting for LILY and CHEF to answer my question.

But if you would read a whole post and not just pick out a sound bite you would see I said from the description it could be.
Now. I just gave more an answer to this one question than you have given to any 20 ever asked of you.
Remember that.

I don't have a problem answering questions. A couple posts under this you said your question was if it's abuse. I have already said that it is.
Here is my post copied and pasted for you, relevant part in bold and red: No sane person is going to call that discipline, Flan. That is very clearly abuse.
The thing that makes me sad is how much stuff like this happens that isn't caught on video. I'm glad this kid will have a chance to move on from it somehow.
