One of the ladies at Zumba is a teacher. She teaches the little ones at one of the private schools. The principal has always had issues with her, now she's getting crazy. Zumba friend was sitting in a swing with a 5 year old in her lap and was swinging her. Now principal wants her suspended for inappropriate sexual behavior. Seriously? The rest of admin in the school is trying to play it off but principal is determined to go through with it. A lot of the parents know and are on Zumba friend's side.

My opinion is it's stupid and the lady did nothing wrong. However it doesn't surprise me that an issue is being made. I hope it works out in her favor.

She's probably close to 60. She's been teaching forever. She's been complaining about the principal being nasty to her since the beginning of the school year. I don't think she'd do anything inappropriate. She was swinging a little kid who was probably in heaven because her little legs can't make the swing go.

I visit 5 different schools a month: 2 church preschools, a chain daycare, a public school & a private school.

It's going to the school board. And friend has a lawyer. They are issuing a cease and desist order because principal won't shut her trap.

 Oh my gosh! The principal at my kids elementary school was a complete terror. She ran the school like a prison. Not kidding. 

If a parent wanted to enter the school past the front office, they needed her permission. And she would refuse. 

I heard her ripping a teacher a new one new one on my way out one morning. I had to walk A in to help him carry something for class. This woman was totally going off on the teacher. I don't know what it was about but the teacher was about to cry. 

My cousin has worked there since my kids were there. She says the principal was horrible in public and was 10 times worse in private.

That principal retired about 4 yrs ago. My cousin says its a whole new place now.

 Lily is right. The teacher pit herself in a very bad situation. She shouldn't have been sitting like that on the swing - its against the regulations put in place for her protection. But she is NOT a molestor and the principal should quit saying that. A simple note in her personnel file should have sufficed.

I've had preschoolers run a hand from my ankle to my knee. I just remove it. (I'm usually sitting on a chair & they are on the floor.)

My boys are almost 7 and they still like to sit on my lap. In church, at the doctor's office, wherever. They like to sit on Grandma and Papa's laps, too.

This principal has issues.

 The principal does have issues - but they are airing personnel matters and exaggerating what was seen.

Touching by teachers is very closely regulated and monitored. There are rules about how a teacher can touch a student. What this teacher did was against the rules. She didn't do it maliciously, it sounds like she really loves her kids. But it was against the rules nonetheless. She needs retrained and then the issue needs dropped. 

The rules are in place for the teachers' protection. If she follows the rules, no one would be able to make an allegation like this. That's exactly why the rules are in place. It's too bad she is learning the lesson the hardest way possible. I feel badly for her. 

 

Note: My dad was a teacher and they had very specific guidelines on where they could touch a student - even if the students were fighting the teachers were limited in how they could break it up physically so as to follow the rules on touch. My DD tutored in a elementary school and they had to demonstrate knowledge of where and how they could touch a student before they were allowed to tutor.
