Yes, I was in the same restaurant as my friends. They ordered multiple pricey alcoholic drinks and I did not. They ordered an appetizer and I did not (I was not hungry enough to eat one). Those two factors alone added more than $50 to their bill. Why should I pay an extra $25 for something I did not eat or drink?

Please explain to me why I should put in an extra $25 for thier $50 worth of alcohol and appetizers? How do you justify this?

Frankly, some people are well off. They can go out and not have to have a single worry about how much they spend or order. For others going out is a TREAT. Like a special occasion. They may not be poor but they work on a budget. And they may have carefully budgeted that eating out meal. I don't think it is at all fair if someone has gone out with the intent not spend over a certain amount to call that person cheap. They are fully willing to pay their way. They just aren't willing to pay the way of others because well, maybe they just can't afford it. Let the people who are so rich pay for everyone then.

I just got back from lunch. There were only two of us but our waitress straight off asked us if we wanted separate checks. We did not because we just split down the middle. Some days my entrée is more some days hers is. It is a workday so no alcohol involved.

Because!  Just because!  It is sooooo hard for that poor waitress or waiter to keep track!  How dare you!

Are you afraid of your servers? Is that why you're always so willing to just split the check no matter how lopsided that check might be?

No.  I'm just not going to cry about a few pennies.  Plus, if necessary, I can do math.

Ok, so first it was a couple of dollars, then it was an extra 95 cents, now it's pennies. Just keep backtracking while I laugh hysterically...lol

I'm not backtracking.  A couple of dollars is just a few pennies.  I don't think ten bucks is that big of A deal.  If your bill is that big of a difference or more--then you must not even be in the same restaurant as your friends.

Really?    A couple of drinks, appetizer and dessert and you can easily be $50 different.  Besides I want to order what I  WANT to order.  I don't want to have to try to keep it even.  If I want to get filet mignon and cheesecake and coffee and a mojito, then I want to get what I want to get and NO, I don't expect my friends to pay for it for me.

Remember he only eats at places that serve alcohol. No alcohol, no dice.

Yeah.  That's how it should be.  Just figure it out.

You were the one talking about not drinking when others were, not me.

Whatever.

You must be eating at McDonald's while your friends are across the street--in which case, yes, then get separate checks.

That reads like a foolish, insulting response.

Says the king of foolish responses--such as the gem of saying that only alcoholics ever drink.

This response just made me laugh and laugh husker. It sounds like a petulant teenager didn't get their way...lol. You obviously know better than her where she was eating and what went on at the meal.

I don't think Husker is as worldly as he would like us to believe If he doesn't know that 2 couples at a nice restaurant could spend upwards of $50 difference, he doesn't get out much.

Especially when we have explained multiple ways it could happen.

Ou wait.  I forgot. He told me to just drink alcohol and the bill would come out even. Lol
