I'm up and getting ready for work. There is a chance I wasn't supposed to be in until later, but I forgot to check with my boss before I left last night. We are supposed to have a committee meeting tonight I have to stay for, but nothing has been said since I scheduled it two weeks ago, so dont know if it's even happening.
on another note, turns out the vine I spent most of Sunday fighting with was poison ivy. I've never seen the vine, just the plant. I was telling my dad about it and he said it sounded like poison ivy. I looked it up online and sure enough, it is. That and my arms now itch. That's what I get for saying I'm not allergic to poison ivy last night. BUT I only have a couple patches on my arms. Considering how much contact I had with it, I'm lucky I'm not more allergic. And so happy I was wearing gloves!

DG, it can takes weeks for all the itchy patches to appear. Get calamine lotion and take an antihistamine.
I've got hydrocortisone cream. And I take an antihistamine daily already. I have a regularly scheduled doctors appointment on thursday. I'll make sure to mention it. I'm really not overly sensitive to it. This is only the third time in my life I'be had it and it's all over the place in the woods here. My mom is super sensitive. She ends up with it at least once a year - usually from just looking in the plant's direction lol. When we weren't sure what it was, mom said she hoped it wasn't poison ivy. I said well, if it is, better that it's me over here instead of you!
I wasn't allergic to it, either, until I was. Light contact would do nothing - but since my very bad experience with it - I can look at it and break out. Bad news is - once you've had the reaction once, you'll always have it, now.

Speaking of itching, my appointment this morning is with my dermatologist. My outer ears have been itchy for weeks, the tops of them. Today the itchiness has spread, no patches though. Weird.

We get poison ivy in our yard at times. There are sprays for it. I hiked through poison oak years ago with my ex. He got the rash, I didn't.
Prayers for Czech.
Today is my work from home day. Went downstairs and got a text from my boss that due to an all hands meeting, telework for today is revoked. Carp. Anyway, I'm excused this time since I was out yesterday and was mixed up on the meeting dates. (They changed the date a couple times). I guess I need to check my calendar more often.
Car has been giving me a little trouble so it's in the shop. Which means I am home today instead of work. I'll work tomorrow instead.
I am almost finished with all schoolwork for this semester. I have a peer review for one class (no one else has posted yet) and one assignment (discussion board) for a different class. And three finals which have not been released yet.
I've had to turn the heat on the last few mornings. It was 48 at 7 this morning.
It's getting to 70 about 3pm.

DG, DS got poison ivy. We fought it for about a week with calamine and all that other stuff. It was still itching. DH told me about this stuff called Technu. I bought some yesterday and DS applied it when I bought it and at bedtime. There is a night and day difference. It is almost healed in one night. It's pretty amazing. I will warn you though it's expensive. The bottle of cleanser was $15 and the bottle of spray was $15 too. You wash very thoroughly, pat dry, and spray. So in all it was about $30 but it has given him a lot of relief.
I'll be praying for Czech.

it really doesn't itch too much. I put hydrocortisone cream on this morning and I just reapplied. There are a few new bumps on my arm, but not many. And my face itched earlier. Now every time I have an itch I'm freaked out its spreading.
If I would have realized it was poison ivy, I would have gone inside and showered right away. But since I waited a few hours, I think that's what did me in. My dads like this too, as long as he showers right after, he doesn't get it.
So my PSA is: that fuzzy vine/branch attacking your tree or fence? Yeah, don't touch that.

LEarned that the hard way. I was crossing over a creek on a fallen tree. I panicked halfway across and sat and straddled the tree. Think horrible poison ivy on the inside of your thighs.

Oh geez! That is horrible LL! I was removing some brush that had grown up into the slats of a fence. I had no idea what it was, I just thought it was some normal weed. It wasn't until I was telling my dad about it yesterday that he said it sounded like poison ivy. And I didn't show signs until today. Thanks dad, you couldn't have told me that before I spent an hour fighting with it??
I'm glad it's not bad. I wish I'd known about this stuff and had it on hand before DS got the poison ivy. I will definitely be keeping some on hand now.

FWM, I just saw that Stana Katic got married to her BF in a monastery in Croatia.

I didn't know that! I'll have to google. I don't know who her boyfriend is.
She kept quiet about her private life, that's for sure.

Crap....I just found out everything got preempted last night with the breaking news in Baltimore. So I most likely missed all or some of Castle in my recording! Damn looters!
DH uses Ivarest on poison ivy. He get it every year when he does weeding around the shed. We keep both the cleanser and the lotion on hand.
I saw that at the pharmacy too. I never knew about this stuff and DH said to get Technu so I did! lol That had one bottle of this stuff called Zantel? I think that was sixty dollars for one bottle.

I only know about Ivarest because DH bought it when he went to CVS. He did not even tell me he had PI again.

Thank you for letting me know! Seriously. If I need something and I can't find anything else it's always good to know there's something else that works well!

Been there done that & had scars for years. I got it from sitting in the woods. It was miserable!
