I adopted a dog from the pound earlier this week and I at taking him to the vet for his health check up today. He is super sweet, but he pulls when he is on the leash. And he is strong, lol!
Yay for the doggy!
We want details!
What did you name it? What kind of dog is it. (Best guess, if you don't know for sure.)
And, pictures would be great!
His name is Banjo. He was named at the pound and my son opted not to change his name. He is supposed to be an Austrailian Shepard mix, but his head marking look Rottie to me (although his head isn't nearly as wide as a Rott). Also, his chest and belly markings look Blue Heeler. We will see what the vet says. Initially, I was told he is three years old (I specifically did NOT want a puppy!), but I think he is younger than that. When I picked him up, they were saying two years old then.
He is super sweet, and he needs lots and lots of touching for reassurance. When I'm home, he is right beside me all the time. He was abused before he came to the pound. It took them a couple of weeks before he would let anyone get near him without him shaking like a leaf. Since he seems to have latched on to me, my guess is that his abuser was male. Or, he understands that I'm the pack Alpha, even above the mens in the household. Not sure which.
He hasn't been cooperative on pictures, but I will try to get some this weekend :)

What a lucky pup, that you were able to adopt him!
Good for you! You are an angel!
I love his name! I hope, with love and time, he'll get his confidence back.

I'm moving on up. My office is moving from the 2nd floor to the third. And the new office is HUGE!!!!! I'll be lost in there. but that's OK. I may have to get a couch though to take up some of the space...

Don't get a couch - it will tempt you to sleep on it.

I can save you from sleeping on it by coming and sleeping on it, thus making sure there isn't any room for you :)

So, earlier this week, Tech told me that I have to stop adopting strays, even though he was one of them. My 22yo nephew is staying with us. My DD16 has a friend from school who has a tough home life, so I've extended an open invitation for him to use my house as a kind of a refuge from the chaos of his house when he feels the need. I adopted a shelter dog. Apparently, I'm kind of a soft touch.
My office is right next to a major roadway. Today, we found a young puppy outside. He is in the age range of 2-3 months and is super sweet. No one is willing to take the puppy in. We can't let him just wander or he will be a puppy pancake before too long. I HATE the thought of sending the poor, scared little guy to the pound. But I REALLY don't have any more room. And Tech will be mad if I bring him home, even if it's just to foster until we can find him a home. (I already discussed it with him). UGH!

Well, dang! I'm sorry to hear that, Oughtabe!
Oughttabe, I'm a soft touch, too and I understand exactly how you feel. Poor little puppers...

Well since he is also a stray tell him he has to go to make room for the puppy!
I'm bad but I would just take him home anyway. Maybe take him for the weekend while you look for a local no kill shelter.

I'm moving in with the label people. These are the people that think we put out good music. The hard core Christian Music fans. We're all in for a culture shock...

Now, do I want to finish cleaning out the fridge and eat the leftovers or go out to eat? We will be eating out the rest of the weekend since we are heading to DC in the morning.
He's a rescue, 8ish months old. So far we are calling him Buddy. He really seems to like Bunny, has been following him all around much to Bunny's delight. He's very affectionate and pretty well behaved so far. Some counter surfing.
The other two cats are less than thrilled. Here's hoping they get over it.
