Probably guys deal with it differently than girls. I don't think he should be forced into counseling.

I think most girls have been sexually abused. I think I was more upset finding out Santa Claus want real then I was even I was old enough to realize I had been sexually abused.

 I totally disagree with this.  I was never sexually abused.  I know few people that were.  And you can say all day that I don't know if they were or not, but I DO know. My girlfriends and I told each other EVERYTHING.

But that's pretty paranoid statement.

I would think it's more likely that less than 5% are truly abused.

You think most girls (more than 50%) have been abused? I must live in a different world because that would be epidemic proportions and I'd be wondering what the hell was wrong with more than half the world.

The stats say 1 in 5, but that's only reported. It's probably closer to 2 in 5. That's still less than half.

Men are victims less often BUT they are also even more less likely (hope that makes sense) to report it. There is still a HUGE stigma attached to a man being sexually assaulted. And men also don't seek counseling as much as women.

Some girls are abused by what I call "passers-by" and it ends and they never report it, and they move on. People like a relative's boyfriend who is only around for a short time.

  Well, I was molested by a teen boy neighbor in 3rd grade.  And, a couple of my college girlfriends were too.  It wasn't something we dwelled on or even talked about.  It just came up one night.  It isn't something that I dwell on either.
