She and two other men allegedly shot Carlos Enrique González Noriega, 68, before robbing him and running away.
The two men with the teenager fled down a series of alleys, but the girl took a wrong turn and was surrounded by a vigilante mob.
The horrific video shows the girl dazed and stumbling in the middle of a crowd of people, her face bleeding.
After she is viciously beaten, the helpless woman is doused in a flammable liquid before going up in flames, and is filming screaming and writhing in pain as the mob watches on.

Graphic: The moment the girl was set on fire is too graphic to share. Officers said they tried to reach the teenager to help but the mob of 250 surrounding her prevented them from reaching her
As she lies on the ground, a man runs over with a can of petrol and pours it over her, sending her up in flames as she screams.
The camera continues to roll as the fire continues to ravage her body and the girl dies.
A police spokesman said that officers had tried to intervene but were blocked by the bystanders.
The video of the sickening incident was uploaded to YouTube and was viewed hundreds of thousands of times before it was removed.
The girl has not been identified, according to news website Tiempo. because the National Civil Police are worried it will spark further tensions in the area.
So--nobody cares about the taxi driver they murdered. The only story here is a mob of people who are probably fed up with the high crime rates and found someone to take out their frustration on.
Yes, it is a horrific incident all the way around. Yes, everyone should have due process and the benefit of the court to prove whether they are guilty or not.
However, if she's guilty, I'll reserve my sympathy for the guy they shot and killed.

Well, I could agree with you--but then we'd both be wrong.

Well first of all Husker, nobody even COMMENTED yet on the article. I post a lot of articles with varying points of view. ANd, yes, if she was involved, then arrest her and try her under the criminal justice system. But, I thought you all might like a taste of street justice in other countries. Makes you appreciate the one you live in.
We see this kind of mob justice here every now and then. The police is powerless to do anything about it, lest they wanna get thrown under the bus too, so to speak, so they usually just hang back. They call for back-up, but these things are over very quickly, by the time reinforcements arrive, it's done. All it takes is just a hint of suspicion, and the hunt is on. Inevitably there is always someone with his/her cellphone rolling, so more than not a few of the mob is caught and brought to justice, but we are talking whole communities going on a rampage, so it doesn't really solve anything. In fact, it just makes things worse as the community now feel double betrayed. That is then when law enforcement gets targeted in the area, preventing them from coming around to do patrols, leaving the general folks vulnerable to the criminals, and it starts all over again. It's pretty harsh...
How would a person in a mob know that they're going after the right person?
They don't. Mob mentality can be very dangerous in that way.
Yes, it is very dangerous. And, I see that it appears to be all men killing her.
That is nothing new, either.
There's a skit by a comedian where the guy says he can't believe women have anything to do with men, because statistically, men are the greatest danger to women in the world.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
Yes, and "mob mentality" is something that I had made a point to discuss especially with my teen sons. Seems like a teen boy will get some bright idea and STUPID will happen or worse. And, boys tend to run in packs. My sons always had groups of boys. Girls don't seem to be looking for STUPID as much as boys do.
I don't know. Sometimes I think the way they did it in the "Old West"--at least the version popularized by Hollywood--is the way to go.
You think this the "way to go"? Um, how about a trial? And she was with 2 other men which makes it very likely one of those 2 men did the killing.
They probably did--but that doesn't mean she isn't guilty. Even in this nation, if she was there she could be tried for murder, as well, even if she didn't pull the trigger.
Also, reading through the comments, my very first statement sure has been true.
