Thanks. The thunder and lightening are putting on quite a spectacular show - the windows are shaking, and I can almost read by the glare of the lightening.

Not sure I'll take a chance in the morning on driving 87 miles, but I've already bought and arranged the flowers, so I guess I'll go.

Yes, we are in the same boat. Tornado warnings in the middle of the night. Flash flood warnings until later on today.

Mere and I went down to the plant to feed Shop Cat and First Shift kitty. Neither one was around. But, we put out their food.

We did see a skunk lurking around. But, it didn't get too close.

Wayne's first flight is in the air. He lands in Miami at 2:30pm.

He should get back to DFW around 9 tonight.

I'm watching the tennis. The people running the French Open must be idiots. They made Nadal the 6th seed! furious

Who makes a defending champion the 6th seed, for goodness sake?

The French. That's who.

I'd like to give them a swift kick, if you know what I mean.

Oh well. No cookout for us.

DH never gets up early on his day off.

I slept until 7:00, then wandered into the living room to find that he had already made himself an omelette. He was watching some female comedian, whose voice was way too strident. I asked him to turn it down twice, then after 45 minutes, told him to go in the bedroom & watch the damn show because I now have a headache.

Spouse woke me two hours ago. Somewhere, one of the (beep) smoke alarms is calling. (beep)

Listened .... (beep)

I wound up changing the batteries in all the smoke alarms and two CO alarms. (beep)

Took them all down ... (beep)

Removed ALL the batteries ...

(beep)

Okay, there has to be one I don't see.

finally (beep) found the source !!!

I have three plug-in CO alarms, one by the furnace / water heater in the basement,

one over the gas dryer, and ...

one I'd forgotten about.

plugged in ...

on the floor. (CO alarm can be put anywhere). Outside the linen closet.

The display said "Err" .

Pushed reset .... (beep)

"Err"

Unplugged it and removed the backup battery .....

SILENCE.

Plugged it in... "Err" (beep)

Replaced the battery ...

"Err" (beep)

They're all from 2007. One did this last week.

I don't remember whether the third one was newer, I will have to look.

(silence)

So all my smoke detectors and the battery powered CO alarms (two of them) all have new batteries.

It's after 8:00, too late to go back to sleep.

I did put all the alarms back where they belong.

Today is girls' day! Last week, my cousin decided "she had been a bad friend" and we all needed to go do something fun. So we are going over to one of the good malls (the one I wanted to go to last week and she poo-poo-ed) and going to the Japanese steakhouse for dinner. I might price laptops while we're there.

Ed-glad you found the culprit. A few years ago, the smoke detector outside my bedroom started to chirp at 3am. I took the battery out. It still chirped. I didn't have an 9Vs in the house, so I took the battery out of the smoke detector furthest away from my bedroom to put in the closest one. Now they both chirped. So I was the crazy lady at the store at 3am in her PJs buying batteries.

It's race day over in Indy. I do kinda miss all the coverage.

Not ready to get up yet. Have everything done for our trip. Just waiting till time to go. We are not leaving till after lunch. So I can take my time getting ready.

We have nothing but sunny blue skies ahead of us for the week. Although I do hope it storms off shore one night, I want to get some pictures.

While that would be a good idea, it wouldn't have helped. The one that was beeping was plugged in. Apparently the sensor had reached end of life.

Interesting that it was two identical ones I bought at the same time, and died a week apart.

I shall be packing up my scrapbooking room today and turning it into a bedroom for our summer nanny. Although, she got a car the other day (she's 17) so I don't know how much she'll be wanting to stay here during the week. The plan was originally to pick her up on Sunday evening (Monday this week) and take her home each Friday evening. This is C - the girl with the wicked stepmother. She's taking care of the kids all summer for me.

I am up and working on school work while it is still quiet. It's due by midnight tonight so I need to get moving. Who knows when Mom is supposed to be back here. Going to try to go see MIL today too.

Supposed to be sunny and up to 80 degrees today. Hope I can enjoy some of it. Wish I could send it to those of you with too much rain and send the rain to those who need it.

It's an HP. My friend who's in IT said its good for what I want. And it's got a nice big screen. I'm excited.
