When I turned on the computer today, I had a notice along the bottom of the screen and it told me to download Windows 10 for free (after it is released). Now my computer is Windows 7. I checked a bit on the internet and see this is a legitimate deal (and so easy as it works like a security update) that I went ahead and reserved it. Have any of you had this notification and, if so, are you going to go ahead or are you going to wait a while to see if it works well or not?

Yes, I also have a white Windows icon in my toolbar. I also have Windows7 and when I put my cursor over it, "Get Windows Update" shows. When I right click, I get the options to "Reserve your free upgrade", "Go To Windows Update", and "Get to know Windows 10". It appears legit to me.
I have decided to wait awhile before upgrading. I would like to see how it performs and there will be bugs to resolve, as every new version of Windows does. I would also want to make sure it is compatible with my malware and internet security programs as well as other programs I use. It will have to be a stable platform before I upgrade, if anything.
I would never upgrade to the newest version of anything for a minimum of 6 months because of all the kinks that occur. Actually, I wait until DH says all clear to upgrade. DH is IT Desktop support. DH deals with enough problems at work that I would never inflict that on him at home. I still haven't updated my iPhone to the latest update yet (pure laziness for that one).
Evidently I can make the reservation (already did), download it when they notify me it is ready and WAIT to install it for quite a while..... I may not instantly install it, just download and watch the internet for comments on how it is working.
