Speaking of movies, I dvr'd shutter island last night because I've always wanted to see it. I had terrible nightmares about it and I haven't even watched it yet! It must be good!

It's been a long time since I saw it, but I remember that it was VERY good!

Nice pic, NJN!

Good luck with the mulch! Sounds like a lot!

Meeting with the pool engineer tonight. I have some decking ideas I want to discuss...changes to what they initially proposed. Once we figure this out, they can come out and put in the deck then start finishing this project up!

Morning everyone. I never saw Magic Mike or Shutter Island. I DVR'd The Fault in Our Stars over the weekend. I liked it very much.

I thought Magic Mike was dumb. No story line. It was like soft porn trying to fit conversation in between naked shots. I won't even bother going to see number two.

LOL, story or not ladies? I might watch it if I catch it on HBO or maybe it will be on Cinemax. They tend to be racier.

I wouldn't like a movie with that many naked women - I would think it was degrading. So I feel the same way about Magic Mike. It's beneath them. And as women, I think we need to be consistent in the message we send. If looks are not important, what's in someone's heart and brain are important then it should work that way for both sexes.

Today started with DD pouting because I won't take her out to breakfast. I told her that was the epitome of first world problems and to knock it off.

If you're going to watch Magic Mike you're going to watch it for the scantily clad men. That's it. There's sort of a feeble attempt to have a story between naked dances of these guys. Let's not pretend that it's anything other than a bunch of mostly naked men dancing.

I agree MM.  Story or no everyone went to see half naked men.  I don't care what they say.  DH and I tried to watch it together and didn't get into it at all.

Sorry about your DD.  Mine is asking to go somewhere too.

Which is why I had little to no interest in it when it came out. Not that I go to the theater for any movie.

I disagree. Channing Tatum's character has to deal with the consequences of introducing a young kid to "the life," among other things.

The choreography was amazing & I was disappointed there wasn't MORE dancing.

It was a FUN movie. GF and I saw it in the theatre. There were couples, both old and young, and lots of groups of women.

Never watched Magic Mike. Seen to many real life strippers and know there is no glamor in it at all.

Shutter Island starts good but about half way through you know what's going on. The online hidden object game is better. More frightening.

We want to see the Mad Max reboot. I still want to see the Poltergeist reboot. I will wait for them to come out on Netflix.

Afternoon yall.

The actors were having a lot of fun. You could tell.

And, as I said, it DID address the negative aspects of that kind of life.

So which one had the disease, who had the drug problem, who had the eating disorder,  which one killed themselves?

Don't think anyone had a disease.  I believe several had drug problems.  No eating disorders.  I believe there was a drug murder/shooting.  Been awhile.  And not going to watch it again.

Ted came out at the same time and everyone thought that was hilarious. I didn't get the humor in it either. Now both Ted 2 and the second Magic Mike are coming out. Won't be catching either.

I think Matthew McConaughey is an awesome actor and does excellent work but I don't like him personally. I'm sure he doesn't really care about that especially since I go see his movies.

I think he IS a good loving husband and father.  Here's the thing though.  I watched an interview with him right before he got married.  I didn't realize he had two kids.  He went on and on about how godly he was and how he believed in the Bible and how he lives by those standards.  Then he said that's why after ten years of living with his g/f and two kids (kids were like 8 and 3) he was going marry her.  Really?  This is the first time in ten years it occurred to you to follow your religion?

Sleep. I need sleep.

We took MIL home from rehab yesterday. There has been a bunch of miscommunication lately, especially when routed thru MIL. First, SIL did tell MIL she was going away. MIL failed to tell us. MIL told us that BIL2 was coming up on Sunday and was spending the night. Great, we did not want her alone on her firsts night. Wrong. BIL was coming for the day and MIL did not tell him she would be home, not at rehab. So, DH & I left so I could come home a back a bag to spend the night at MILs. DH has one packed for tonight if he needs it.

Ok, what is going to fall behind this week, housework or homework? Probably housework.

Let's see, it's about a group of aging male strippers who are trying to find their way through life. They realize they have nothing to show for all the partying. The new guy comes in. They bring him into their world after some hazing.

One takes an interest in new guy. Tries to get him to see the down side.

Some body dies.

They become united by a common cause.

Lots of dancing and stripping.

Show ends with new guy taking the place of one of the ones no longer there.

Some how, I don't think so.

And honestly, I don't care.

It seems like a very shallow movie.

And if it was based on women, I'd bet you would have a totally different opinion.
