  • Girl was still inside bouncy castle in Guangxi when it was swept up into air 
  • CCTV footage shows her trying to run towards a woman next to the castle 
  • The woman, believed to be a relative, tried to grab on to the castle as it lifted off in attempt to save toddler 
  • The girl, who has not been named, later died in hospital from her injuries
  • The inflatable structure was fixed to the ground with just wires and stones

A three-year-old girl has died after falling from a bouncy castle that was blown up into the air in southern China.

The girl, who has not been named, was still inside the bouncy castle in Guangxi on Thursday when a gust of wind swept it into the air in five seconds, reported the People's Daily Online.

CCTV footage of the incident shows a woman desperately trying to grab on to the side of the large inflatable castle as it blows away.

The girl can be seen trying to run towards the woman, who is believed to be a relative, as the bouncy castle begins to lift up into the air. 

She was seriously injured after falling to the ground and sadly died in hospital.

In the footage, parents and children can be seen running away from the bouncy castle, which had been set up outside a large supermarket.

At the end of the clip, the bouncy castle disappears out of shot.  

Li Zhongji, a health and safety official, said that the inflatable castle had not been licensed.

According to CCTV News, the bouncy castle was fixed to the ground with wires and stones, and did not meet health and safety standards.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

I know. But, I think it is important to understand risks. And, it seems this has happened more than a few times so not sure why people are still renting these.

I've seen the stories.

If the "ride" is properly set up, they are perfectly safe.

Do a walk around. Look at how it is secured, pay attention to the wind.

I've seem more busted noses and bit tongues than flying away with those bouncy things.

Yes, but if your kid gets invited to some party or whatever, you dont' really know how people set things up.

gosh my little granddaughter just wen to a birthday party that had one of these and she is almost same age as this poor sweet little girl. May she rest in peace. My heart goes out to her family. I hate hearing about little ones dying so young.

That is very sad.

I agree with the suggestions of doing a walk around before letting kids play in them. The are perfectly safe when anchored properly, but they are like a giant parasail when not properly anchored. People would be surprised how little wind it takes to roll an unanchored one.
