TOPIC: Toddler dies from untreated ear infection after 'parents refused treatment because they don't believe in modern medicine
Not taking your child to a doctor when she is so sick is ridiculous. They waited until she was breathing 6 times in a minute. They waited too long and it killed their baby.

You're talking about ear infections and comparing them to strep throat and tonsillitis. Two totally different things treated totally different ways. It's like apples and oranges. Did I have any complications? I had strep so many times they said it I needed to have my tonsils taken out because everything was draining and infecting them. So yes, I would consider having to have them taken out to be a complication of strep. I'm not sure how your reasoning works.

Is reasoning actually involved?

I don't know. This thread exhausts me. I say living in a pop up camper with no heat, electricity, or running water isn't responsible. Then someone says living in a mobile home is fine and I'm a snob. Um, geez, there's a world of difference between a pop up camper and a mobile home. There's also a world of difference between a pop up camper and an RV. But it appears I'm the only one, besides MM, who can grasp that fact. Then I say, gee, maybe if you already have five kids you can't feed, no job, no car and live in a camper you shouldn't have more kids. Then I get accused of calling these people bad parents. Then we start comparing strep and tonsillitis to ear infections. By now I'm so lost I can't find my way out of a paper bag. But while I'm in there I guess I'll look for my nursing license since I supposedly don't have one because I've never treated an ear infection.
I wonder how many labor and delivery nurses have dealt with heart attacks? I wonder how many cardiac nurses have looked at ingrown toenails? Oh wait, they're probably not nurses either.
