I'm lucky.

We have two A/C units, one for the upstairs, and one for the downstairs.

They have never both broken at the same time.

So, I would have one floor cool, if one of them conked out.smile

That is how my Mom's house is set up too.  I only have the one & it struggles to keep it cool.  It is three levels all above ground.  The builder cheaped out on the duct work so the basement & main level share the duct work.  You can hang meat in my basement & I can barely keep the main level comfortable.  The bedroom level has it's own & it stays comfortable thankfully.

He put freon in it and said it was dirty. It's cooling. I have no doubt that later in the summer it will quit again. It's always the freon. Obviously there's a leak somewhere.

If your basement is below grade - it really doesn't need it's own unit, although the ductwork should have been directed mainly to the main level.  The basement will stay cool because it is underground, and that insulates better.

It is mostly on grade.  The front is about chest height below ground.  It doesn't need it's own unit I just wish they had run the duct work differently.  I was talking to the repair guy a few years back & he explained that they had actually bid the contract with the builder to do the duct work but lost the contract because they bid to do it properly which cost a bit more.  He said it was just marginally more expensive per house but with 200+ homes in the subdivision it added up.  He said for me to tear it out & redo it now would be cost prohibitive.

Yes it is finished & fully furnished. I never use it though except to do laundry. I have sort of an aversion to basements. I thought this one would be different because it has a glass slider & windows on most walls. It is light & not damp but I just prefer the main level with the big floor to ceiling windows even though they are completely covered by blinds.

Good grief, it's 86 out with a real feel of 96.

I ran to pick up a few groceries.

Brought the few bags into the house.

And I'm dripping sweat.cry

I can't stand cold and snow.

But, blazing hot and humid, is no fun either.cry

When I was young I didn't mind the heat.  It is the getting old that makes the heat unbearable.  I generate enough of my own heat.  It rolls over me in waves.

At this point I can't wait.  70 is about as cool as I can get the house now with the A/C running full time.  I usually change into a sleeveless cotton gown when I get home.  I have a tower fan a few feet from my chair that I blow straight on me.  In the winter I keep the house at 64 & am perfectly comfortable.

There is a heat advisory out for portions of the state.

Thinking about playing in the water this evening. Wanna come come? I'll go get some popsicles.

O4 I am so sorry about your family's loss. So tragic.

SB, that is soooo exciting. I want to go!

It is sunny and in the 80's here. I turn on the A/C when I get home, just on the main floor. If it is still hot in the bedroom tonight, I will turn those A/C's on.

Today was my last real day of work with my beloved company. I am excited about my new opportunity but will miss a lot of people. I am going to keep up with them as a friend, because that is what we are. I also have a fistful of resumes to bring with me that people have sent. I think I will make a lot of money on referrals this year.

And a disturbing incident at DD's school. This is the email:
Today there was an incident that occurred while the fifth grade students were outside. Two juvenile males came out of the tree line. One of them completely disrobed while the other shouted profanity. Both of the individuals involved have been apprehended by the IKWTS' town Police Department and will be dealt with accordingly. Neither of the two juveniles attends school in IKWTS' town.

Ok I think that covers the highlights of the day! Oh wait, no. We are going to a cook out tonight for DD's GS Troop. It's the cross over ceremony. DD doesn't cross over this year, but should be a nice time.

I know.  But even in Michigan, the kids got out the 2nd week of June and they don't go back until September, either.

And if they weren't still in school - there would not have been anybody there for this incident to occur.  biggrin

Not sure what it was. It's never happened before. I gave him benedryl and put some hydro cortisone cream on it. It might be a little better, but still pretty puffy.

LOL!

I would take that, any day of the week!

We will probably not see a high under 90, until October.

And give us another week....we will be seeing a low, at 6am., of 80 or more.

It was only 78 at 5am this morning.

It won't last much longer.

LOL!

I would take that, any day of the week!

We will probably not see a high under 90, until October.

And give us another week....we will be seeing a low, at 6am., of 80 or more.

It was only 78 at 5am this morning.

It won't last much longer.

But did you see the real feel? 100 and 101. That's how humid it is.
