Little Black Sambo was my favorite story when I was a kid. I could recite it. Now all I remember is his green umbrella & his purple shoes with crimson soles & crimson linings.
And you think that's going to stop people from being racist? Do you think the flag CAUSES racism? Trust me, because of this, racial acceptance has been set back a good 30 years. You don't get to tell people what they can or cannot buy based on you feeling hurt.
It's going to be worse now than ever. Trust me on this...

It's not about feeling "hurt."
It's sending a message that racist merchandise is not A-okay.
Do I think it will change anything? No, but I like it anyway.

What about the families who have people who died fighting for the rights of the states? That have that flag as a remembrance to them? No one should have the right to declare something sacred to people as wrong and ban it. Not everyone who loves the confederate flag is racist - some actually love the original idea of a republic of States with limited federal government. You think just because you don't agree with them that it should be banned?
This is America, in case you have forgotten - freedom of speech and expression and all that. If you are really against those concepts, please get the hell out of my country.

A round of applause for this statement. This is America and a free market economy. Does anybody really believe this will end racism or is it just a show of political power for the right?

I had several ancestors who fought on both sides. There is a monument at Gettysburg dedicated to his infantry. One brother fought for North, other for the South. I would imagine the family was torn.
Racial intent comes from within, not from a flag, cookie jar, or bottle of syrup. Censorship is more evidence of the fall of this country and our freedoms that our ancestors fought so hard for.
I told you. There are going to be more Confederate flags flying now than ever. They achieved exactly the opposite of what they wanted to do. All in the name of political correctness. Even the people that didn't fly them, but support the freedom to do so, will be waving theirs.
This may actually turn out to be really comical!

I really loved Esops Fables. Briar Rabbit was awesome. Those were read to us in class. No one thought anything about it.
Now, you can't find the books.
So not only will generations never know the wonderful stories, that snap shot of time has been erased. And we are a poorer society without it.

Oh, please, every library that I've ever worked at had several editions of Aesop's fables.

People DIED, flan. DIED fighting for the freedoms you so chalantly toss aside and find offensive.
She doesn't understand the concept. Greater good, not selfish undertakings.

I am very sorry about your dog. I hate when animals suffer. However, you are here arguing about this - if you are that distraught that you can't take responses to your posts, then stay off the thread. Don't come baiting people and then hide behind your sick dog to make people feel bad about responding. That's in HORRIBLE taste.

Aesop's Fables was taken out of our library in the 80s I think. Unless it has been put back recently.

I watch Dukes of Hazzard almost every day. It's on TV Land.
I love that show.

Aesop's Fables are available from Amazon. I just googled it. Generally speaking I am not for banning anything.
Really? Cool. I'll have to get them.

DH's company sells civil war stuff - they are selling out.
The market is going to explode with this stuff now. People are going to buy up everything they can get their hands on and then resell at a huge profit.

I'm waiting for one of these PC groups show up at a reenactment.
That may be when South rises up again.
