Sun is being very slow to come out on this soggy Sunday morning.

I've been up for two hours and am tired. I went to sleep at 2:00 and woke up at 6:00. DH is still sleeping, but he went to sleep probably around 4-5:00.

Nice quiet day planned. I need to do a load of laundry and pack. DH will probably run the vacuum and clean the bird's cage.

Brunch will be sausage gravy and dinner will be leftovers.

I am excited for my getaway. My BFF lives in Florida about 2.5 hours from Mom. Since Mom is paying for me to get there, I did not feel okay with leaving to go see BFF so I asked if she could come for a day (with 3 of 5 of her kids) knowing Mom is so-so about BFF (BG below). Mom said yes and even suggested that she spend the night! So I get extra time with BFF and her kids (my angel babies who are 17, 16 and 3 (almost 4).

Long BG short (yes, this is the short version), Mom is not overly fond of BFF. BFF married first cousin @ 5 months pregnant with oldest niece (now 24). When I met BFF at her bridal shower, I introduced myself and told her not to marry my cousin, that he was an azzhole. Now, we became friends, and I ended up helping her leave cousin. Mom felt I was choosing friend over family. I was protecting niece and the friendship developed. I never was close (or even distant) with cousin since he was, and still is, an azz.

Rainy here, winds are pretty strong. I guess some trees came down overnight in the area. I slept until 9! I haven't done that in forever. I do have to grocery shop today. Then lots of family coming for dinner.

I have a headache.
Stopped to get a coke zero on my way to church and the owner of the store had so much incense burning I thought my throat was going to close up. Then at church there was a spotlight reflecting off a piano and the light was in my eyes the whole service. And, last but not least, someone near me reeked of cigarette smoke. I come in to service late because I greet until about 10 minutes into the service so seating is limited.
Just wanted to whine.

Bright and sunny here after yesterday's storm. DH is watching RoboCop while making breakfast. DS is alternating between giving my splint a concerned look, poking it, watching Daddy cook, and causing general chaos. I have my ankle up and am icing it.

My Dad quipped that I hurt the wrong leg. I hurt my good leg so now I have two bum legs. My bad leg will not support my weight so I can't use the crutches properly but having to lean on them and drag my bad ankle while stepping with my other foot. I'm sure I look rather silly but hey it works. I have a new appreciation for our wood floors. They make it easy to drag my bum ankle around.

Yet another reason why we need to move:

We live in a split-level house. We have a fenced-in back yard with a dog door opening onto the deck. I know my dogs' barks: mildly annoyed, majorly pissed, COME NOW!

I walk out onto the deck to see 2 little boys next door (visiting? Don't recognize them) yelling at my dogs. Then the younger one (maybe 3) starts throwing rocks.

I step outside and ask him WHY he is throwing rocks at MY dogs.

My dogs just bark at all the other dogs when I let them out.  They annoy me.  Both the people behind us and the people to the left have one big dog a piece.  Their dogs are good but dogs are dogs.  They bark at each other.  On the right side of me we have the lesbians with the ten yappy poms.  I've noticed they are not letting the dogs out so much.

They're doing an exhibition on the Civil War.  It's supposed to be really neat.  I'm sure they'll have a flag there.  There are going to be people dressed up in uniforms.  SS is looking forward to it.  Plus, Sonic is doing an ice cream sale the same day so we're going to make a big day of it.

Yes. But that's about 20 minutes from me, closed on Sunday, and it takes gas to get there.

And I don't have a dvd player.

Spent the last few hours power washing the patio around the pool - in the rain. The weather channel still says zero chance of rain.

Joined BJ's club. Boycotting Costco. BJ's was such a nice experience. Costco on a Sunday before a holiday would be a nightmare. BJ's wasn't. It was actually, relaxing. And they had a good supply to chose from. Their meats looked good, too, and they will portion them out for you if you ask.

Costco gives money all the time to Obama.  They support him, financially.  Google it.  I learned that last year, and was just waiting for my membership to expire.

We save up gas points from our local grocery store.  For each hundred points we save we get ten cents off.

Trust me, BJs is better than Costco related to matters you care about. Unfortunately, it is the lesser of two evils choice you are making. But that's usually what has to be done these days.

I researched it quickly last night and it looks like BJ's is neutral. On abortion and gay marriage they have stated no opinion and have given no money towards any causes. They were rated neutral. They were rated pro-gun because they sell guns. But their political contributions were almost evenly split with a slight majority going to democratic candidates. Looks like they are trying to play both sides - which isn't a bad business move at all.

I haven't been able to find anything that links BJ's to either party, so I think I made the better choice.

When researching this, I was actually a bit disturbed by a few other things I found out about Costco. They have no standards whatsoever regarding the treatment of the animals they sell for meat, and even though they are aligned with the Democratic party - the environmental party - they fought to (and won) build a warehouse on wetlands.
