It did look interesting! They were real life letters that someone collected and put in a book!
My mom has a box of my grandmother's letter between her and her husband (my grandpa) from when he was away.
I am in awe of her. I had such a hard time during my husband's deployment for a year, with one kid, phone calls, and Skype. My grandma went almost 2 years for one deployment with a 3, 2, and 1 year old and the only communication was a letter every 6 weeks or so.

I know! And some of the woman say in the letters, "If this letter finds you dead..." Or, "In hopes that this letter finds you..." They didn't even KNOW if their husbands would get a letter.
One lady says she worked as a nurse and she says the three story building they were using for a hospital was full and oftentimes they had to put beds outside because the inside was so full.

We're home from the library and ice cream. SS checked out a book about the civil war. There are blank pages where the confederate flag used to be!
But censorship isn't real!

I'm going to go to work today and NOT punch my colleague. She's incompetent and intent on blaming everyone else for it and yesterday was a nice long rant that made on of my other colleagues cry. I told her to shut it. I'll likely have to deal with that today. You do NOT make a member of my team cry because you are incompetent. I will go all mother-bear on your a$$!
Punch her. Punch her HARD.

Well, I didn't punch anyone, but I DID get a suspension-pending-investigation. At least my vacation is with pay . . .
I think that the last straw was when I refused to participate in a non-disciplinary 'interpersonal relationship repair' meeting with my supervisor. I engaged in 3, none of them went very well, and then I refused to engage in the fourth because my bosses boss was there and I wasn't comfortable with him in the room. Apparently I hurt his feelings, so he's calling it insubordination. Also, when I had a breakdown and started crying and hyperventilating because they wouldn't let me out of the room and went out front of the house we work in and sat on the grass I 'left the premises' which is grounds for suspension.
Oh, and apparently I'm 'refusing to work collaborately' with my superior, even though she and I ran a group together immediately prior and it was fine. I don't care to repair a personal relationship - work people just aren't that important to me. Seems like that is not allowed? What?

I'm sorry Tig, that sounds really crappy and stressful. Fight it.

Oh, Tig, I'm so very sorry. I know how much you care about helping your clients.

Are you okay?

Thanks flan and IKWTDS. I am fighting it, and am fairly confident I will have a letter of apology at the end of it. I can't see how they have grounds for suspension; especially with no prior disciplinary action. Leaving the premises has never been an issue. When I smoked I left the premises 5 times a day. When current smokers go out, they leave the premises. I also - as far as I can tell - have the right to refuse non disciplinary interpersonal discussions. I am also okay. Mostly. I waver back and forth between distraught and okay. It'll settle. I just don't know what to do!

Tig that stinks. It sounds like you have a good plan for what to do. Stay calm. Remember your people need you.
I hate all this coom-bye-ahh crap at work. (How the frick do you spell that word?! Lol) We don't all have to be best friends. We just need to be able to get the work done. Can you get the work done with these people?! Yes! That's all that should matter. Sheesh!

It was really nice when I bought the house. But, yeah, things change after 26 years...
DH and I want out of the county altogether.
flan
I understand neighborhoods change. Ours is so nice. Any time there's a bad neighbor it gets back to the landlord and they end up moving. Other than a lot of dogs barking it's not bad here at all.

The playground at our complex is done! DS doesn't quite know what to make of the equipment but he'll figure it out. He enjoyed running around with all the kids out there.
