I don't get how people can scorn creationism and yet find the big bang theory to be SO much more plausible. Also, it seems to me that non believers tend to "forget" that it's only a theory.

At least there's a modicum of evidence for the Big Bang. If you can show me any hard evidence of creationism, I'll gladly take a look at it.

Somebody's going to win a Nobel Prize. At least that's what the physics community is saying after the announcement on Monday that a Harvard team has found the first direct evidence of cosmic inflation right after the Big Bang. It's more proof that the Big Bang really was the beginning of it all.The discovery itself is a little bit tough to wrap your head around—as it should be, given that it helps to explain the beginning of existence. Astronomers specifically discovered a twist of light called primordial B-mode polarization. This refers to the swirling effect that enormous gravitational waves had on photons that escaped from the Big Bang and serves as proof that those gravitational waves actually exist. As far as understanding the origins of the universe goes, this is a very, very big deal. Some say that this finding is up there with the discovery of the Higgs boson back in 2012.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to my movie. It's Shark Week!

If evolution happened, it wasn't random. God orchestrated it.

See. There is this thing about science. It says that matter will not move without something to either push or pull it.

Oh my gods.

I can't believe I read all of this.

When are you going to change the name of the board to Totally Bible Studies?

Let me know when y'all feel like discussing something (anything!) else.

Remember when we used to talk about music and food and cruises and current events that didn't involve the big three subjects (abortion, The Gays, Religious Oppression!)?

Maybe I'm just cranky today, but this **** is getting boring.

I have serious reservations about the practicality and repercussions of the affordable care act. I have found that it places an unreasonable burden on small business owners (most healthcare providers are small business owners) and is not the least bit affordable.

This January my son was placed on an extension plan. I just found out that it was actually an ACA plan that his doctor does not accept. Also, they increased his premium 50%. We were not told that it was an ACA plan and were not given any other choices.

Can you guess how freakimy angry I am with Aetna right now??

Exactly, and I would like to ask people who say they don't like abortion but are pro choice, what specifically is it that you don't like about abortion? Because the only thing I can think of is that you agree it's the taking of a baby's life, otherwise why have any feelings on it either way? And if you do feel it's the taking of a life, how can you possibly even think it's okay for someone to have the right to choose to do such a thing?

We actually are talking about food and drinks, and snow and other things.  So if you don't like this topic - go to those threads and stay off this one.  B/c for someone complaining about these kind of threads - this is what you are posting on, not the others.

Certainly, and we are able to respond.  But considering this thread is now 5 pages - there are obviously people that want to discuss it, so coming on the thread and your post just being a pissy comment about the thread's existence is rather petty, don't you think?  And then to complain about wanting other types of threads when those threads actually DO exist is just ridiculous.  Or, hey, like Gaga said - if you want to talk about something, start a thread about it.  But when all you are going to do is bitch about what other people are posting, then you are going to get a response.

Yes, you did.  But that didn't change the fact that it was offensive - especially with your swipe at the Christians on the board.  I believe their are several non-Christians also posting on this thread, but your ire is only directed at those you don't agree with?

Swipe? Pointing out that you like to discuss the bible frequently is a "swipe at Christians"?

I'm sorry you found that offensive, LL, truly. Trust me though, if I was trying to offend Christians I could do better than that.

What is wrong with fellow Christians discussing the Bible? Non Christians are not forced to join in, contribute or read.

Nothing at all wrong with discussing the bible.

it just seems to turn up on nearly every thread around here regardless of the topic.

If this board is just for Christians now, please let me know.

It turns up on the topics related to how Christians feel about certain issues. When you are discussing life - and how a Christian feels about abortion, that's going to come up.  But I don't recall a single Bible verse on the eat or drink thread, which are the ones you claim to prefer.

"Nearly every thread" is highly exagerating.  Obviously, you take issue with Christians and feel they should just shut up.

It's come up often, lately, I'll grant--but look at the threads.  Abortion, a specific thread about religion, gay marriage threads.  How can it not come up on such threads?

Okay. I guess my real problem is that I vehemently disagree with several very vocal posters who also happen to frequently cite the Bible as the reasoning behind their opinions.

I think I will just take a another step back from this board.

I can be reached via pm, if anyone wants to talk to me.

I apologize for being offensive.

Look, I'm sorry.
I know I can't change anything here. I know no one can make me post a certain way or stop me from posting what I want.

I'm just tired of reading what some people here post. So I'm not going to read here anymore.

I'd like to think that maybe a couple people here would still like to talk to me sometimes, so I wanted to let them know that I will respond to pm's.

There are lots of threads. I have started topics from politics to cow flatulence. There are tons of other topics that we have beaten to a bloody pulp. Of course we want to talk to you. Why not just start some threads on topics that interest you? I post what interests me.

You're not being offensive tangerine, you're sharing your thoughts and opinions which apparently isn't okay to some people, hence the immature backlash. I hope you stick around and just ignore the mean, entitled comments.

Immaturity is obviously based upon the viewpoint.  I find it highly immature to come and post pissy comments on threads you claim to dislike while ignoring the majority of other threads on different topics - the ones claimed not to exist.  The people who pop in now and then to simply bitch about what people are posting instead of contributing to the type of threads they claim to like seems immature to me.  And to expressly go to threads that are controversial and include religious issues and then to complain about people posting their religious views IS a swipe at the Christians on the board.  THAT is immature and entitled.  Entitled in thinking that what you are posting is somehow more important than what others are posting.

And flouncing because someone responds badly to an ADMITTEDLY pissy post is also immature. You could try contributing to the other threads and staying off the ones that chap your ass.  Or should I post a vote and see if people only want a board where none of the threads can be controversial?  Would that be better?

And Vette, your constant defense of people you like even when they are the ones in the wrong is also immature as is the insulting tone of your post.

I was perfectly happy when I woke up - good night sleep and everything.  But when I opened this thread and it's turned into a bashing "I hate this board" thread, my back gets up.

She didn't say she hated this board. And she does have a point. A lot of threads here revolve around religion & abortion. It does get tiresome. I usually just leave & don't say anything but she felt like saying something.

White chocolate mud cake? They look like decorated berries or cherries to me. Whatever it is I'll have some.

So, you woke up on Thursday and it turned into Friday. biggrin

Darmit and I didn't even get a chance to nip at you yet.

Sorry, but I had to laugh.

White chocolate is so deceptive! wink

Our culture is very divided at this point in time. IMHO the boards (all boards) are reflecting that fact.

As far as I'm aware - you have to actually click on the thread to open and read it.  And threads about abortion usually have abortion or similar in the title in the title - like "Planned Parenthood".  And those usually lead to discussion about religion.  In fact - you can normally tell what a thread is by the title.  And there are PLENTY of other threads that don't have that in them.  And there is also a "Start a new topic" button where you can start a thread about whatever the hell you want.  So, if you HATE threads on abortion, WHY THE HELL DO YOU OPEN THEM AND READ THEM?

Exactly.  These are the topics of the times.  The topics reflect what is being published in the media and what people are talking about.

Clearly it is your opinion and not mine that she is in the wrong, so don't assume you know my motives.

And what exactly do you mean by constant? I hardly even post anymore.

But that's what most of your posts are these days.   You come in to either defend your friends when they have put themselves in a situation of their own making.
