You all can have the Mexican food. I want Pho for lunch. It's too far to go to for reasonable lunch hour. And I only get 30 minutes.
Mmmm...pho. Love the stuff.
We have a plethora of ethnic restaurants in my city, but what we don't have enough of, is Mexican. Not that easy to find a taco in my town.
Hi Welts!
I guess Mexican hasn't made it across your border yet. I wish our Mexican places would deliver.
I've never had pho. We have two places close that I know of, just haven't tried it.
Hi Lexxy! We have a few Mexican eateries, but not a lot. You know what food I really miss since I moved back home from the US?
CORNBREAD!
Oh wow I didn't know you ever lived in the states. Considering the things you know how to cook I doubt cornbread would be too difficult unless they don't sell cornmeal in CA. I bet one of the southerners here has a good recipe.
I married an American and lived there for about five and a half years.
Yeah, I'm a pretty good cook, and should look into making it myself. I need a good recipe.
This place is awash in wood-burning-oven bagels, croissants and baguettes, but no cornbread. Not the sweetish, yellow kind. I love that stuff.

Lily - care to share your recipe?
Well mine isn't sweet. I don't like sweet cornbread.
But my recipe is simple.
Put a little oil in a cast iron skillet, put it in the oven on about 400-425.
In a large bowl, add 1 cup self rising flour, 2-3 cups cornmeal, 1 egg and then add milk or water until you get a thick batter.
Take your hot skillet out, run the hot oil around the pan to coat. Then pour the oil into your batter. Mix in and pour back into hot skillet.
Bake until done.

Challenge failed. Figures.
Give people what they claim to want, and you still get bitched at.

Do you think we are stupid?
flan
I do not think Vette is stupid.

You actually think that remark was witty, don't you?
flan
Well, flan, quite frankly, there was no "we". I was arguing with Vette, and again you stuck your nose in where it wasn't needed. Just because you felt the need to make this about "we", does not mean that I had to. I kept my response related to the person I was arguing with. You can take that however you damn well please.

It was EXACTLY what was asked for - more fluff threads. But some people just can't deal. And TANG posted nicely on this thread, and in fact, I should make it clear that I am not angry at Tangerine at all. But other people have to blow everything out of frickin proportion when people simply respond frankly.

If it hadn't been such a condescending thread, maybe it would have been different.

She was mad & possibly started it for the wrong reason but that is no reason for us not to enjoy it. I have enough IRL to get under my skin. I just choose not to let it here. If that was even her intent. It is easy to read into things when it is from a poster that may rub you the wrong way.
So I will sprinkle some fairy dust & hopefully that will erase any ill will from this thread.
We are going camping this weekend and our two grand boys are coming, they are 22 months and 7 months! Looking so forward to it!
Have fun but I'm not so sure camping with ones that little will go smoothly. Unless you have a cabin or RV.
we have been taking them since they were tiny, we have a 38' fifth wheel and take pack n play and booster seat, we often dry camp at the lake and they love the boat and swimming. this weekend we are going to a town 90 miles away to the festival in the park and farmers market and Saturday on to another bigger town 100 45 miles away for DD to look for wedding dress (DD is not their mom, she's their aunt) DH and I will ride our Harleys over and DD and her fiancé will take the boys in their car.
We camp every weekend from mid to late may until September or October. Die hards I guess LOL

You know me well!! Check THIS out, I Binged "Jelly Bean Cake".
Aww the jelly bean cake brings along a rainbow. I think I'll let it stay there & look pretty & eat the chocolate one. It looks like peanut butter frosting between the layers. Drool!!

Well then it sounds like you've got it all covered. Have a great weekend & I hope you get beautiful weather & you DD finds the perfect dress.
It's 5pm here & quitting time for me. I will trust you ladies to keep this thread on the happy side in my absence. Or there will be serious sporking in the morning!
We just had a small pop up but we could go at the drop of a hat.
There are so many camp grounds, within an hour you could a lifetime away it seemed.

Been having problems with my artificial knee for a couple of days - back to using the cane, even in the house.
This morning, he got us bacon/egg/cheese tacos.
For lunch, he served Bagel Bites (my fave) and a salad
For dinner, he made the most delicious chicken & dumplings - from scratch!

I've never had chicken and dumplings. I live in a different country and it's just not a thing here. Maybe in the rest of Canada, I don't know, but certainly not in French Quebec.
