Obama has not ordered that the flag be flown at half staff in honor of the servicemen killed. Yet he did when Whitney Houston died. And people still support this fvcker. What a disgrace...

BTW, our governor ordered the flag lowered...so our flag in our yard is. And so is the flag of the Marine across the street...

But, I thought we had a New Testament with a lot of teachings by Jesus about compassion, etc. No where did it say He was a wimp but I do not recall Him calling for the annihilation of a group of people.

Lily, I think you are more PO'd at how our "leaders" are responding versus the being PO'd about Muslims. We all need to understand where our feelings are coming from. I agree. I can't imagine condemning a whole group of people based on the actions of a few. When white boys shoot up movie theaters and elementary schools and colleges campuses, we say they are mentally ill and lament the mental healthcare system. We don't say all white boys should be run out of the country.

I know several Muslims and they are decent, hardworking people who are distraught at events like this. They find it as repugnant as Christians. They say that true devout Muslims valum the sanctity of all human life and would never kill. They pray for the lives lost just like Christians and the denounce the shooter. But the media doesn't put that in the papers because it isn't "newsworthy".

In Canada the Imams frequently speak out against radicalism. They screen converts and members of their mosques and report those who cause concern to the authorities to be watched (sadly, Canada is great at watching, not so great at stopping . . . .). I know and have worked with lots of Muslims, both in the USA and in Canada. Only one of them was a woman-hater; the rest were amazing people from whom I learned a lot about how the world works and what it is like to be exiled from your own country because it has been taken over by terrorists.

Not all Muslims are ISIS. Not all Africans create child soldiers. Not all Russians persecute the LGBTQ community. Not all Catholics are child molesters and not all trailer parks are going to be hit by hurricanes.

I have a serious question - why is the OP not considered hate speech? The rules state that hate speech is an attack against a group of people for who they are. In my opinion the OP qualifies as such. Can you clarify for me why this is not the case, please?

Define "innocent". The guilt here extends WAY beyond the person who just pulled the trigger. It extends to a belief system that justifies this.

I agree with this to a point. The OP itself focused on the terrorist and his family and mosque, however. But it did devolve. It is inappropriate and this thread will be closed, and this is Lily's warning.
