He was our local State Senator, going door to door running for re-election.

Our County, with one-party control for over 20 years, was spending a LOT more money than they were taking in,

and there was a lot of press coverage alleging mismanagement, cronyism, corruption, etc.

What he told me was, "If the county's budget needs to be cut so it balances, we can just cut out a few unnecessary Patronage jobs."

Excuse me !!! WHY am I as a taxpayer, paying for ANY "UNNECESSARY" patronage jobs???

Oh, despite the stereotypes, I actually think many are honest, even in Washington.

I think much of the problem is that they make promises when they are running for office--and then find out they CAN'T keep them. They don't have enough power or clout to do so.

I am pretty jaded about those who have been in Washington a long time. I think they have lost much of their integrity--Hilary, Mitch McConnell, Harry Reid, Pelosi, even John McCain. I think they've become jaded, too willing to compromise what they stand for, too willing to cut corners.

Well, I could agree with you--but then we'd both be wrong.
