Good morning Czech!

And everyone!

I'm vegging out, watching the golf.

My cold seems a little better.

But, I don't have much motivation to do much today.

I guess I'll just be lazy, and hope that tomorrow will be better.wink

Yeehaw!

Has the landscaper started planting yet?

Or, is that next on the list?

Morning everyone. I can't say I'm happy it's Monday.

FNW I sure hope they aren't planting this week. Everything will burn up before they have a chance to get rooted.

Planting will start 8/3. It was supposed to start today, but the foreman my designer wanted on the job is unavailable until then.

FNW, I hope you can enjoy the pool in the mean time.

O4, you always have so much fun! Enjoy your 4 day weekend!

Good morning, FWM, Lexxy, and Trudy.

I'm tired already. DD and her family didn't get home until 2 a.m. this morning. They ran into terrible storms making for over two hours of slow drive time.

We got hit by storms last night as well. I thought our house was going to explode with one lightening strike. The whole house literally shook and the bedroom windows sounded like they were going to shatter. DH WAS sleeping soundly....until then. We think the church bell tower across the street got hit. I'm glad it wasn't our house!

Anyway, I don't function well on less then four hours of sleep..

Oh boy, did I sleep last night. Well, I guess anyone would after only getting about 2 hours the night before. Some hives were back yesterday but they appeared several hours after "waking" up. Nothing today so far.

Sounds like everyone is off to a slow start today. It is hot, hazy and humid out there. I have no plans to go outside today until later when it starts to cool down. Tomorrow it will start to cool down and the rest of the week will be better. Stay cool, everyone.

Trying to get motivated for schoolwork but having difficulty. Need to do a midterm paper that is due at midnight and I have no motivation.

ohfour, have fun in AC. Looks like there are lots of things going on next weekend. I miss having the time to run away down there.

czech, that sounds scary close with the lightning.

I still have a ton to do today. Since yesterday got all tied up with the pantry today I'm going to catch up. Hopefully. Never seems to work that way though!

When it's too hot to make dinner, we usually have cheese, crackers, fruit and veggies.

That actually sounds good to me, LL.

I'm thinking Wayne is going to want real food.

I might throw a pork tenderloin in the oven.

And reheat the leftover veggies from our cookout on Saturday.

Easy enough, and it won't take long to make.smile

We usually do that on Fridays, welts.

I don't feel like ordering in again so soon.

I'll just stick with my quick and easy idea, I guess.smile

I never use my oven when it is hot like this.  It heats up the whole kitchen.  I'd throw it in the crock pot.

My kitchen is STILL in shambles, so G can't cook right now. We've been eating a big lunch and then snacking on veggies and hummus (or the sort) for dinner. If my faucet delivers tomorrow, I may at least get my sink back, which will help tremendously...

My oven is only a couple years old, Lexxy.

It doesn't heat up the kitchen to have it on.

(Shhhh, don't tell Wayne. I still use that excuse from time to time.)wink

I can cook a tenderloin at 425, and it will be done in about 35 minutes.

It will be quick, and easy.smile

My oven is only 9 years old but it is electric & I swear takes 30 minutes to heat.  My old oven was gas & heated in a fraction of the time.  My kitchen is right off my sunroom which is all windows & gets a huge solar load in the afternoon/evenings.  I don't do anything to add even one degree to the temperature.  Right now my oven doesn't work but I'm not even going to bother getting it repaired until fall.  I may need the money to replace the A/C before the summer is done.

After we finally get all of the cabinets in (the lowers are done, the granite is done, just waiting on the crown moulding for the uppers), we will get a wood floor and then a gas stove. Baby steps. I cannot wait for this to be over...

I have hard wood envy.  Not for the kitchen though.  I want the ceramic tile that looks like wood for the kitchen & hard wood everywhere else.

I just looked at that. OMG!  I love it.  That's may just be an option.....G's on board, we just have to discuss with our contractor.   My house is fairly old, and some things are just not worth the price to start from the beginning...

I currently have warped water stained laminate in my kitchen from a leak.  Not going through that again.  I saw it on HG TV & it looked so cool.  I asked a contractor I know about it & he highly recommended it.  I got a quote for installation last summer.  I just haven't pulled the trigger yet.  I'm sort of afraid the new shiny kitchen floor will make the carpet that adjoins it look that much shabbier & I can't afford to wood the whole main level.

My granny had a nice big porcelain farmhouse sink.

I loved that thing. I could design a whole house around it.

Yep.  My grandmother's had one basin.  She would pull out the "wash pan" from underneath the sink, wash the dishes in that, rinse them on the side of the pan with the faucet and then dry them.  One at a time. When we were there, we would be charged with drying them...it made her job a lot easier...

No offence was taken. I know people have different tastes. I like a combo of modern and older.

My grandparents built the house in 1953. The stove/oven was second hand and was brand new in 1946 (we have the warranty card). My grandfather built the cabinets are are real wood which is why I don't want them changed. The counters are similar to laminate and the floor was replaced in the late 70's to a really ugly vinyl. The fridge is modern-ish. I wanted a replica 1950s look but was not paying $3,500 for it.

We have an original chrome dinner table. There are 6 chairs and the step-stool with the little set of steps to it. I even have my great-grandmother's china hutch in there too.

I incorporate my grandparent's memories through use of their dishes. I received dishes from both sides and think of them every time I use them.

Since people are asking me what I did over the weekend, it's been a great opportunity to educate about IH. But then you get this conversation:

My friend D: do you drink a lot of water during the day?
Me: some, not much really
D: you should try drinking more water
Me: I have, it doesn't make a difference
D: you should try again, really try hard this time. My friend...
Me: (cutting him off) D, if you are going to start telling me everything I should be doing to cure my IH, I swear I will hang up on you. Don't you think if it was that simple I would have done it?

Yes, I know he is trying to be helpful. It just gets tiring when every new person I tell has some opinion. Drink more water, exercise more, go gluten free.....we've heard and tried them all.
