I love my DH. I totally trust my DH. He is an awesome man that can weather any storm. And I apparently trust him a bit too much.
The last three nights my dishwasher has not been working right. It's been leaking water at the bottom. It's never done that before. DH or DS always loads the dishwasher. I rarely do it. So I'm really lucky to have a helpful husband. But we couldn't figure out what was wrong. I've asked him a dozen times if he had the right soap. He swears he did. He said it said it was for the dishwasher. I wasn't with him when he bought it. We were at Sam's and I had gone in a different direction to get something else. Tonight he holds it up and says, I just don't know what it is anymore. Right on the front of the bottle it says DISHWASHING soap and NOT DISHWASHER soap. Yep. Been putting the wrong soap in it. Ah, the joys...

He swore up and down he had the right soap. Tonight when he pulled it out the first thing I noticed is the little squeezy spout that comes on dishwashing liquid. Then I read the label...

I know right?! The repair bill should be really cheap.

The pods are super convenient. But they are really just a way for the company to charge more for less product. The super cheap side of me can't see paying all that extra money for the convenience of the pods. Plus, sometimes the little soap door won't open when there is a pod in it so it makes me furious if I have to wash the dishes twice.

I get them when they are on sale.
But the price per ounce or per use is still much higher than the product not in pod form.

My boss did this once in the office kitchen - which is on the other side of the wall of my office. I can look down right now and still see the water damage beneath the paint on my baseboards.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
Lowes warned me not to use gel pods when I bought my dishwasher.
They told me those would ruin the stainless steel tub.
(I don't know if that is true, or not. But I wasn't about to risk it.)
I don't think I have a stainless tub. The outside is stainless but the inside is white plastic. I've been using them for a while now & so far no damage. However, if you had told me that sooner I never would have tried them. Sooo......that means if my dishwasher dies it's your fault.
No. But it was a big mess and our tile is like ice when it's wet. Very slick. I had to be very careful in there.

My tile is like that, too. SO dangerous for dad, especially; sometimes he uses the ice dispenser on the fridge and doesn't notice that a few cubes escaped his glass. I find little pools in there frequently.
I have fallen multiple times. I understand why your dad would fall. Due to the multiple knee surgeries I have zero balance. When normal people start to fall they can usually correct their balance. Even at least to some degree to keep them from knocking themselves out. I, and many elderly people, cannot. We don't have that capability. So falls come easy.

This happens to me sometimes too but usually the ice cube slides under the fridge to melt.
Our ice dispenser is terrible. It is always sending little shards of ice all over. There's always little puddles in the kitchen. It's not too slippery, at least.
We got some stupid ecofreindly dishwasher that doesn't have a heating element. We have to use the finish gel pods and add water to the dispenser. Nothing else works in that thing. Either it leaves a gross film on everything or doesn't even dissolve.
We have ceramic tile. It's beautiful, easy to clean, and cool to the feet. However, when wet it becomes DANGEROUS. I hate it for that. I have to be so careful. I've fallen many times. Once I fell and sprained my ankle.

I haven't had a dishwasher for about 5 years now. Probably more.
Don't really miss it.
