I've done that, when folks are short of money to buy baby food and diapers. They didn't even have to be in the military. I know what it's like to go through hard times.
A flock of flirting flamingos is pure, passionate, pink pandemonium-a frenetic flamingle-mangle-a discordant discotheque of delirious dancing, flamboyant feathers, and flamingo lingo.
I despise Oprah Winfrey but I once heard her saying how people asked her all the time if she worried that the money that she gave away really went to help the people it was supposed to. She said, "If God compels me to give I give. Because that is what God wants me to do. If the person that I give to doesn't use it the way it was intended then that's between them and God. It's not for ME to worry about."

I disagree. I want to know where my dollars go because if someone isn't using it as intended--then those dollars would be better given to someone else.
Sure, it's between them and God, but why not help a deserving person?

Well, I could agree with you--but then we'd both be wrong.
You shouldn't just give away blindly. I am not saying that. What I'm saying is that even if you check and recheck that people can still use money in ways it's not intended to be used. You can't always know 100%. All you can do is do the best you can and hope that the money you gave went for the right thing. Then not lose sleep over it wondering if someone "cheated" you.

You can't always know 100%, that is true. I guess I just disagree with the notion that it is always between "them and God", though. If I find out, then I would certainly try to make sure it went to someone who truly needed it and used it the way it was meant.
