Wow, poor cows. And here they thought it was global warming that was going to do them in!
Now, NJN, you KNOW storms are caused by global warming.
Oh yeah!

My kids are all playing Monopoly. I'm not sure they're following the rules but they're all getting along and happy so does it really matter?

Interesting question. I would think they would but it would have to be a big loss before they'd turn in a claim otherwise they couldn't afford the premium.
Some farmers do carry insurance on their herds, but I don't know if our renter does. He seems to think the rural electric company will pay for the loss, since their (REA) power pole was hit by the lightening that killed the cattle.
I did go out and take pictures. The power pole has already been replaced.
They were young cattle, worth about $3,000 a piece.

Faith isn't something that keeps bad things from happening. Faith is what helps us get through bad things when they do happen.
Tried to call to take care of insurance and had a 3 hr wait time, of course that was after going through a ten minute auto secretary.
Then went to get the boys schedules. They were supposed to be able to pick them up till 5. At 3:43, the school office was closed. No one there.
Went to grocery store, first cart wasn't charged and had to immediately get another, second cart quit on me half way through, no reason, just stopped. Third cart was barely charged and chirped the rest of the time.
Then I had to drive home in evening traffic.
On top of all that, my everything is inflamed and hurting.
And I was late getting my meds and my heart is now beating weird.
Phew! What a day!

How many cattle was lost?

I'm sorry you had a bad day, Lily. I hope your evening is better.
Thanks. I'm home now.
Got the kitchen cleaned up, dogs feed, boys put the groceries up, took some Tylenol and I had a doughnut.
Sitting in my comfy chair with Monster watching Gilligan's Island now.
I feel better already.

Looks as though we all had tough days. Eh, a bad day once in awhile helps us appreciate the good ones that much better.
DS made it to Columbus around noon, he stopped in PA last night to sleep. He is almost done unloading into the storage area and is taking my advice and getting a hotel room tonight for a good night's sleep and shower! He flies back tomorrow night to pick up his last car and will drive that out to OH Thursday evening. Yay! he will be at my house tomorrow night. I know it won't be much of a visit because he will be exhausted, but he will be here. When he gets back to OH he will be on a house hunt or a good rental. He has a room to rent so he is good for awhile but living in one room won't work for him in the long term.

Thanks Lily, I was worried. It was quite the heavy load to drive 800 miles by one's self. But he did it, he always does. I shouldn't worry. I know this is the right career move for him but he will miss us. I've decided that family summer vacas will happen somewhere in OH or at least no longer than a 2 hour drive from him. We may have to give up going to the family cottage for a summer vaca but it's who you are with, not where you are that makes the vaca. You can have fun anywhere.

Well if my kid lives in OH I am going there to visit. BTW we can do long w/e's at the cottage and go to Foxwoods, about 30 minutes away. Have G get a gig there.

Had to run to the store again today. We planned spaghetti for tonight. Picked up garlic bread but no pasta and sauce. I guess we were too tired yesterday to shop properly :P

I have both. Bring the bread and we'll have dinner.
