Bergen sheriff's officer rescues child from hot van

A Bergen County sheriff's officer smashed the window of a hot van to rescue a child who was sweating profusely.
Officer Rich Carrion was alerted by a Costco employee in Hackensack around 4 p.m. Thursday and he found the girl crying in a car seat.
The girl was taken to a hospital for evaluation and released to her father.
The child's mother is charged with child endangerment.
