We have no wifi at our cottage. No issue because I have a smartphone. However DD and her friend have iPods and will want Wifi. I can turn my phone into a hotspot so they can connect, the issue is data usage; how much data should I buy?

Soooo, shouldn't going to a cottage be a bit about disconnecting anyway? Getting back to nature, relaxing, etc.?

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
Can't you load up music on the ipods and use it without wifi?
If not, there's always the radio or CDs.

Check how much data you've been using now, a lot of people have a gig or more unused, so you might be ok.
WHo is your provider? Verizon (and I'm sure most others) will let you change your plan and back date so you could just keep an eye on it and if it gets close to going over, call and change your plan then.

I have to work some, and have you ever taken 2 10YO's on vaca without wifi for their Ipods? Ask O4 how that went! Anywho, waiting for Verizon to chat back to me.

Me too. Took 5 kids without wifi all over the place for weeks at a time.
Takes about 12 hours and they start entertaining each other.
