AC service guy just called. He's on Hilton Head right now and has 2 homes ahead of me. It's looking like he will be here after lunch. When it's already up to 90 degrees. I will just sit here and melt till then.

The house isn't too hot as long as I sit right in front of a fan. The poor kitties are miserable. Hopefully it can be fixed today. If not I will be sleeping in a hotel tonight!

Supposed to be a nice day. #2 still isn't supposed to go swimming because of his stitches. Kind of sad, he doesn't want to go in the pool at all if he can't swim.

Poor guy! At least stitches heal quicker than a cast! When are they coming out?

I heard DD singing "wake up you sleepy head, come on get out of bed" to her friend this morning. We ate breakfast on the screen porch, they are now crabbing in the creek. Need to do a walmart run and buy some noodles for swimming later.

Sending SB cooling thoughts.

FNW, Stitches suck. Soon enough, he will be back in the water.

MM, you pictures so far are great. Looks like you had a great time. You'll get readjusted to time soon enough.

Today is another beautiful summer sunny day with low humidity. And I am stuck indoors again. But there is an end in sight since all schoolwork needs to be done by Friday. One Medium project due tomorrow, One large and one small project due Friday and I believe only two classes have final exams.

Next Saturday starts my beach vacation at the Jersey Shore. Yep, even in the same town, Seaside Heights, but I have never watched the show. DH is coming from Sat-Mon. MIL will be there all week. DSS and DIL may even come for a day or two. I so very much need this vacation. One more week.

Hey.

Didn't get to go to homecoming today. I really wanted to. But my body said no.

SB, you need a wadding pool with ice water to dangle your feet in.

FNW, how is #2's chin looking? Did it bruise?

My dd's and her families apartment is right next to a stadium which is having a real loud concert with a lot of drums and real loud music. It is 12:30 am here.

He gets his stitches out tomorrow. No bruising. It looks good. I've been keeping it bandaged, with some antibiotic ointment daily.

Need new in and out units. My system is 21 years old. Getting new ducts while I'm at it. I know the ducts have needed to be replaced for a while now. Ramen noodles for the next umpteen years.

We had to do that two years ago. Except we still have the old ducts. The extra $2k was not in our budget.

Our old system was 45 years old, yes you read that right. The old system lasted 44 years. We went a year without Central and had a window unit. I think we were lucky it lasted as long as it did.

Hello everyone. I want a vacation. I am jealous of all of you that are going on one! I really need to get away! But not in our budge right now. So I will enjoy living my vacay through ya'll.

My dogs woke up earlier. I told them it was NOT time to wake up and to lay down and go back to sleep. They did. So I got to sleep a little longer! And DH just called. Mostly to talk about DN but it was nice to hear his voice.

We have a squirrel situation.

Too many and we need to thin out the herd.

The problem is, one of the young ones has a birth defect. Its back legs are not fully developed. They are stunted. It doesn't use them like it should.

So the kids want to care for it.

So how do we thin out selectively?

NJN, the only reason I am able to vacation is someone else is paying for it. My mom paid for me to go to Florida to visit her.

MIL is paying for the shore. I just have to feed us. And I will be bringing most of it from home. I have a small budget so we can go out to eat for a couple of cheap meals like breakfast and lunch and one decent dinner.

We save all year to take a yearly vacation.

And we always stay where there are lots to do without leaving the resort and we cook all but 2 of the meals ourselves.

A full vacation for 6-9 people can cost less than $3000 for a whole week with the right planning. That's gas, food, lodging and entertainment.

DH and I are saving for our own vacation/graduation present. Hopefully, we can afford the Florida Keys between Christmas and New Years. If not, we will keep saving and do it when we can. These vacations were more for MIL and my mom than for me. This will probably be MIL's last shore trip. We are the only ones who will go on vacation with her and right now, I have the time, she has the money. Next year, I won't have the time and probably not for a few years.

We have done a week for four people (2 adults and two kids, DSS and friend) in Williamsburg, VA and other places for less than $1,000 in a tent. But my body says no more tents. I like the comforts of a bed and AC.

The problem with saving money for a vacation is that it is last in line. We have our emergency fund which is for if one of us is out of work and we save for other things. Like I said up thread, we replaced our Central AC 2 years ago. That was more than 3 years of vacation savings plus that got wiped out with one purchase. We won't purchase unless we can pay for it outright. Which means vacations wait. We do have a vacation fund but that money would be used for a different need if we had to.

I used to go on a lot of vacations until I bought the lake house. There's swimming, boating, fishing, kayaking, horseback riding, golf for those so inclined. My vacation money is now spent on school taxes, property taxes, roof repairs, etc.

We save change. Not kidding. A huge pickle jar and we toss in what's in out pockets at the end of the day.

We went to Disney in 2004. 6 of us. My parents, my 3 kids and myself.

We stayed in a cabin in the resort. Had a full bed and bunks in the bedroom, had a Murphy bed in the living room. A full kitchen, living area and full bathroom. And a big deck with grill and table.

Unlimited park passes for all six of us for ten days.

I paid for all of it with my taxes and money saved in the pickle jar and come home with $200 we didn't spend.

It covered all that and gas, groceries and dinning out for the entire trip.

Even got a princess breakfast with Caitlyn and all day access to their huge video game building.

When you plan and save you can do anything.

Went to the grocery store and got it all put away. There is a staggering amount of laundry waiting for me. I am procrastinating.

I did laundry at the laundromat. Couldn't bear to do it in the house. Now I'm in a nice chilly hotel room.

It was installed in 1967.  It died in 2012.  It owed us nothing.  We did give it a proper sendoff and let the installers recycle it (take it to the scrap yard).

We've had a few all summer.

The trees are already dropping leaves too.

Thursday the low is 63.
