Target Gets Rid of Gender Labels on Toys Sold in Stores
Permalink

http://www.youngcons.com/target-gets-rid-of-gender-labels-on-toys-sold-in-stores/

Modern American culture is slowly succumbing to the madness of progressivism, and it’s infecting every aspect of our lives you can think of, including, apparently, the toy aisle in Target stores.

Liberals have been doing their darnedest to put pressure on retailers to start removing “gender specific labels” on toys, clothing, ect. in a bid to erase the differences between boys and girls.

This, of course, is impossible due to the fact the differences between boys and girls go deeper than our “plumbing,” and is something that is ingrained in our very natures.

Well, Target has decided to appease the blabbering nutters who support this insanity and is making their toy aisles gender-neutral.

Feel free to face palm now.

From NBC News:

Target is ditching boys’ and girls’ labels on toys after the store says customers were raising concerns about unnecessary gender-based signs.

In an statement posted to their website on Friday, Target announced they were moving away from gendered signs in stores.

“Over the past year, guests have raised important questions about a handful of signs in our stores that offer suggestions based on gender,” the posting read.

“We heard you, and we agree,” the statement said. “Right now, our teams are working across the store to identify areas where we can phase out gender-based signage to help strike a better balance.”

The store said they will also remove references to gender by no longer including the use of pink, blue, yellow or green paper on the back walls of shelves.

This seriously makes me want to yank what little hair I currently have right out of my scalp.

If liberals are all about acceptance and recognizing the natural beauty inherent in a human being, why in the crap are they trying so hard to erase the distinctions that make boys and girls uniquely different and special.

Shouldn’t these differences be celebrated instead of shamed and destroyed?

Boys and girls are physically and emotionally designed to carry out specific roles in society, and when the lines are blurred between the two, chaos ensues and things fall apart.

There’s nothing wrong with a boy’s masculinity being encouraged through playing with toy guns, superheroes, and tools, while girl’s femininity is explored through playing with Barbie dolls.

The reason our society is going to the dogs is because men no longer act like men. They aren’t allowed to be masculine because if they behave according to the nature they’re born with they’re tossed into the “rape culture” bin and shamed for being who they are.

Men have become soft and weak like jellyfish, taking a more submissive role to women in every facet of our culture, and now that feminists have what they want, they complain real men are nowhere to be found.

Gee, maybe that’s because you castrated them — figuratively speaking — with nuttiness like gender-neutral toy aisles and shaming boys for wanting to play with toy six-shooters instead of My Little Pony dolls?

Just a thought.

So now we will wander aimlessly around the store because nothing will be labeled.

Wait...what??
Girls shouldn't know how to use tools or drive trucks? Oh, right. We should only play with dolls to encourage breeding, EZ Bake ovens to encourage meal preparation, and little toy vacuum cleaners to encourage housework. Otherwise, CHAOS WILL ENSUE!!

Yes.  Because it would be biased to ask where to get a gift for your nephew.  You have to ask where to get a gift for a non nondescript child of say ten.

That's what DH said ohfour. I do know that some special interest group lobbied Target about this. I have no idea who though.

I hardly ever go to Target due to the distance. The past few times I've been there I've been disappointed with their selection.

Why is it wrong for girls to like dolls? Or trucks or whatever? And why does color coding matter? I LIKE pink. Most boys don't. Give me pink!!!!!

We get our meds filled there. They're a little more pricey than Wal-Mart but you get what you pay for. My friend who is having the baby and I were talking. We're both really disappointed in the baby stuff. They only carry organic and all that other non everything shampoo and lotion. They carry Johnson's but that's the only other brand that is name brand. They never have a big selection of newborn stuff. Wal-Mart has the onsies for $2 and the mix and match pants for $2. We have a super center now and they have a little more but we're not that impressed. Their pharmacy is really great though. I wonder if they will make it gender neutral?

I went to Belk and they had Carter's baby sets for $3.99 clearance, plus an extra 30% off. I scooped them all up. The pregnancy refuge center will love them!

I hate you!  I would have bought them all too!  You know who has really really cute baby clothes?  SAMS!  You can get a super cute three piece set from Carters for six bucks.

We don't have a target. I think I've been to one twice.

I wasn't impressed.

And this getting ridiculous. Differences were celebrated at one time. Now it's looked at as a bad thing.

And so they bowed down to political pressure. And when their sales plummet, they will change or go out of business. Stupid. Anyway, the Targets and Kohls of this world have run their course, they are due to go under if history of these store types are on track.

Sweet mother of god, the overreaction in this article and on this board. It's crap like this that makes the right look crazy cakes.

All they did was stop labeling and/or separating toys by gender aisles. Instead of having the Legos in two aisles, they put them all in ONE aisle, together. They still have the girly Lego sets to pick, you just don't have to go down two aisles if you have two kids to shop for.

And I seriously doubt your toddler boy is going to become a faggot because he had to buy his GI Joe action figure in the same aisle as the babies.

Personally, I think that stores have been bowing to the conservative political pressures BY keeping toys segregated, vs displaying them by type/genre.

And finally, YES there ARE ingrained physiological differences between men and women. The proble is, many of these scientifically proven differences actually point women into the path of current, male dominated activities and careers. Women make better fighter pilots, hell they make better pilots. But the world markets PLANES as a boy toy. Any and all military toys are marketed as boy toys really. So how can we get more women into a job where she is built to excel in if we don't let her play with toys that some MAN hundreds of years ago Decided was a boy toy?

And I am not sure why taking the aisle titles away and allowing a boy see and gasp want to play with a kids kitchen will somehow NOT celebrate his masculinity. Doesn't he need to be able to cook for himself at some point in his life? Or is this celebrating the physiological strengths ONLY for the menfolk, since a female can't stay at home and cook for her widdle man and use her strengths as a pilot.

I really don't give a rat's ass about what toys my boys play with, as long as they are happy and occupied. But this label removal will make shopping more difficult. I already know my boys would freak out if I brought home a Barbie doll, and now I have to weed through Barbies and American Girl crap to find the superhero stuff.

Yes, because it is so hard to differentiate the Avenger boxes from the Barbie Boxes...and no one is saying that you will have to buy the barbie when you do go down that aisle.

Where did I say it was difficult to differentiate or that I felt compelled to purchase girls' toys? I'm just saying it will make things more difficult, i.e., increasing my shopping time because I will have to go down every aisle to find what I'm looking for. I think I'll stick to Wal-Mart.

Exactly. I know who I am shopping for. When I want to buy an Avengers toy for my daughters - I know where to go look for them. Now, it will be more difficult to find if they are mixing Avengers toys in with everything else. And when I want to shop for Barbie and princesses - I LIKE that they are all together and easy to find. I LIKE that when I'm shopping for a girly toy - I can see them all in the same section - and when I want a traditionally boy toy - I can find those, too. That doesn't mean I pigeon hole my kids - but it means they are easier to FIND.

I suspect it's more of a reason to force people to go down every aisle and possibly resulting in more purchases but they are pretending to be PC.

Seriously?  When was the last time you had to shop for toys.  They are separated by type and genre as well as by the demographic that is MOST interested.  That is how marketing is most successful, by paying attention to the consumer demographic and providing a quick an easy organization of stock for a consumer to easily find what they want.  Otherwise it just creates frustration for the consumer.

If they REALLY want to walk the walk, they will do this with clothes and shoes too. I mean, really, why couldn't a little boy pick out a pink nightgown with matching headband? Their clothes should be separated by size only. (sarcasm)

Between 5 and 10, my boys flat refused to walk down the aisle with what they called "girl" toys.

They knew the difference.

One year for Christmas, mom got Jesse a generic action figure. No real anything on the box. He was 5. He ripped the paper off and immediately announced he opened the wrong gift and tossed it to his sister.

It's completely ok to have girly girls and manly boys.

I wouldn't. When #1 was 2, he wanted to be a princess for Halloween.. I explained that girls were princesses, and boys were princes. Then I asked, do you still want to be a princess? Nope, he wanted to be Thomas the Train. Now he freaks out if I give him a pink lollipop when we're out and about.

My boys would freak out if they saw girls clothes mixed in with boys in the store.

 Exactly.

A parents job is to guide and mold their child into the adults they were meant to be. You teach them who they are. Teach them what morals are.

With all this phantom parenting, we are going to have a planet full of adults who have no idea who or what they are and will be unable to function.

One thing is for sure, the mental health field is going to be bursting at the seams.

Other boys and girls alike would make fun of him. If you don't believe us, check with those in the transgender or gay community. They drone on and on about how they were picked on growing up. Some to the point of suicide. Why would any parent want their child to go through that?

Targets response is one of a company trying to do what is favourable for their own bottom line. I see no politics in this decision.

I don't see why boys and girls toys have to be gender specific. My daughter loved lego yet this would have been in the "boys" section?

Most stores have a baby section that is not gender specific, why not just have a childrens clothing section? Much ado about ...nothing.

Look, if he wore pink and he was bullied about it, he'd stop. On the other hand, if he was gay, there would absolutely nothing I could do about it. You sound like one of those fathers on What Would You Do, who has the screaming heebie-jeebies because the son wants to wear pink nail polish.
It's not a hill I want to die on.
In any case, I raised a compassionate, kind young man who is in a stable relationship and has his own business, so I'm pretty sure I did something right.

Yeah, he'd stop, but the damage would have been done.  Ever watched the show I Am Jazz?  She's an outcast and doesn't understand why boys don't want to go out with her.  Her parents are 100% responsible for her distress...

I Am Jazz is about a transgender kid. Quite different.
My son went to school with gay kids, albino kids, kids in turbans, kids in hijabs, kids with same sex parents, kids with special needs, the entire gamut of every human condition. A pink shirt wouldn't make or break anyone.

I don't have a problem with this at all. Walking down a toy aisle with both 'girl' and 'boy' style toys is not going to effect my life one bit.

DD is pretty girly, but she wants to be Harry Potter for Halloween. I don't think she will be made fun of- but that might be because it's more accepted for girls to do stereotypical boy things than boys doing girl things.
