We kind of have seasons here in AZ. I call them Summer, End of Summer, Not Summer, and Almost Summer. Summer here means temps well above 100. During monsoon, we cool off a bit some days but the humidity sets in when a storm is brewing and it's horrible. I get humidity migraines so, while I love monsoon, I tend to avoid outdoors during monsoon. Monsoon storms can mean anything from absolutely nothing (save for the horrid humidity) to full out thunderstorms. Sometimes, we'll get a microburst.
We recently broke a record with a high of 117. I was out and about that day and found it decent. But, I'm acclimated to the heat.
When I read the 117 part, I shuddered.
I am amazed people can live in that climate.

I am in week 9 of my new job, I feel less stupid everyday. The big boss contacted me today, wants me to take some 6sigma training, told him I was doing another certification course required by the company. He said that course is hard. Umm, no it isn't, not if you are experienced! Just a lot of online courses to take. Made me feel good that he had a hard time with the certification. I steal feel stupid though! But still loving it.
I have a feeling you're going to do great at the new job.
Thanks! It is rough right now. I knew my other job hands down but was bored. I love the new one but am so not up to par. I too think I will be soon. I am excited about that. Haven't use the word "excited" in relation to my job in a long time. BTW my old company keeps contacting me, wants me to lead their next contract. Umm yeah, that would have been nice a year ago. Oh well, nice to have options. Kind of feeling on top of the career world today.

LOL, looks like the old company has finally realized what they lost! Feels great, I bet.

Last summer we hit 114 a couple days.

I'm curious, would you live there if A/C was not available?

No, and I don't know how people survived before a/c. But then I wouldn't want to live in the colder states in the winter without heat either. I do know when it's that hot and you go outside you wonder how people survived in Texas before a/c.

That's probably true. I mean if you keep your house on 72 and it's 108 out that's about a thirty five degree change. That's a huge difference. So if you go from the house to outside your body reacts. And let's admit it, when it's that hot I try not to spend too much time outside. I have the pre start on my car so I cool it down before I even get in it. So not but a few moments from house to car and then usually however long it takes to go from say car to shopping. Back then they slept in it and were in it all the time so they adjusted to it. We just don't.

I am very familiar with your area. I love it! You are very good at creating mental pictures of your life. I have to say, I admire your gift.
Yes, farmers are loud! They are hard of hearing and they have to be able to hear themselves over all the other loud farmers. Oh, and they are boisterous. But they will never admit to that fact. But they will be at your side in a heart beat if needed.
I hope you had a great day and are enjoying a wonderful evening with your DD.
By the way, my cousin called from Greeley CO, it snowed two inches in the mountains last night. You know what that means.
I am guessing I better get winter coats out (well never really out them away...but that sounded good huh! ), and drag more fire to fire pit (If that damn gate will loosen up so I can get it open, I have been having to go through garage and throw wood over fence and back inside and pick IT all up and move to fire pit! and DH and I will be bringing in firewood for the wood burning stove. That is the only heat source in our downstairs and our house is 5,500 sf. But it actually keeps the upstairs a toasty warm too, a just right temp ahhhhh looking forward to popcorn and cold beer on a cold night snuggled on the couch with my herd of fur babies!
yes, I see the birds flying south, and those geese make beautiful V's as they all head flying in formation only they understand. Baby animals are all getting so big, time to take a beef to town for meat. Our hog will be ready late September. Kids are all getting ready to go elk hunting, nothing like healthy fresh meat!
yes, that is what that *S* word means to me!

I miss our old wood burning stove. Best heat source ever! We never had heat upstairs either, the wood stove kept the whole house warm.
DH always said the wood stove warmed him five times, cutting, loading, unloading, stacking and heating. And when we were without power, I cooked on it.
You make me miss the good old days.
Our beef should be ready the first of next week. Yeah, we still get beef butchered.
I think Dove season starts in a few weeks. Then Quail and Pheasant season. I think it's turkey season most of the year around here. Deer season is in November, archery season is earlier. We have lots of family that hunt and there is plenty of family land to hunt on.
Warm sweaters, a roaring fire pit, friends and a cold beer makes for the best weekends ever.
I am so glad you enjoy the same lifestyle as DH and I. Except we don't live out of the farm anymore. We became "townies", but we still have all our land.

Thank you for sharing your life with me. It is a good life. I can't imagine living in a big town, though I do enjoy visiting them now and again. the town by us is now 28,000 and I think our whole county is 35,000 or 38,000

Sorry to disappoint you (lol), but our "town" has a population of 536. Our county has less than 3,000 people. Yeah, we are very rural. I would not live anywhere else.
We are "south" of your state boarder. West river.
I can see all the stars from our back deck, in town!
And, I frequently visit your state, since I grew up there. We are about 10 miles south of the border and my mom and two siblings still live in your state. I am a very frequent visitor.

Okay, my bad. I thought you lived in SD now. I'm south of the border of SD. And I was in Gillette in March. Beautiful country!
