And no. I wasn't here all the time when my kids were 14. I was working 2nd and 3rd shifts.

They DID stay home alone. They WERE fine.

Of course...you waited to break the law until you were an "adult."

Here's a newsflash. There is no "right way" to raise kids. Hell, some people think leaving an infant in the care of a ten year old is okay. People can parent differently and both raise happy, healthy, emotionally fine, independent, strong kids. Just because you, general you, do it that way or believe it is that way doesn't mean it's right for everyone.

Exactly. You adjust based on the temperament and personality of your kid.

Edited to add that this is directed at Ms. Lily.

Of course a lot of parents think their way is the right way.

Mercy, judging others parenting skill is prideful. Prideful in a negatve way. Can you agree that your position is self righteous?

Are you talking to me?  If so I haven't posted anything on this thread other than parents can choose when or where or who to leave their kids with.  Do I judge parents?  Sure.  Sometimes.  We have used to have some friends who let their teens smoke pot with them.  Their attitude was they're going to do it anyway.  Might as well do it with us.  Our attitude is over my dead body.  Do I judge them?  I guess so.  Not sure if I judge them.  I just think I wouldn't raise my kids that way.  Their kids seem to be halfway decent kids.  Make decent grades and have jobs so they seem to be pretty normal.  I don't really feel like I'm coming off as self righteous.  I'm not sure why you would say that.  You seem to respond to me like I bother you.  Like you don't exactly like me.  Maybe I'm taking it the wrong way but there was noting in my posts to even come near self righteous.

I think we can all agree when a baby dies someone fvcked up somewhere.

The other thread was good natured ribbing. I believe I offended you. Wasn't my intention.

Sometimes it's hard to tell who people are talking to or how they are saying it. I do apologize if I misunderstood. Thank you.

Yet you, LL, and several others continue to insist that your way is the only way.

That's one of the most stupid statements I've ever seen.  Sometimes people, even babies, die--and no one is at fault.  Some babies have cancer or a heart defect for God's sakes.  How is anyone supposed to prevent that?

On the threads we have had lately we have not been talking about kids with cancer and you KNOW that.  You're being purposefully obtuse.  We're not talking about kids who die from SIDS in their mothers care or kids with cancer or any other kind of death like that.  We're talking about deaths that could have been prevented with common sense.  Like not locking your child in a hot car.  Or not leaving an infant in the care of a ten year old.

So what?  You made a ridiculous, blanket statement, got called on your ridiculous statement, and now you want to back track on said ridiculous, blanket statement.

Also, there are MANY cases of SIDS that are not explained by anyone "fvcking up".  Sometimes things happen.  Even if you limit your statement to that, it's still ridiculous.

Your last statement on this post is even more ridiculous.  Not every situation is the same.  You said on one thread that there are "many" ways to parent and not everyone has to do it the same--and now you are saying that the way you would do things is the ONLY way that constitutes "common sense" so everyone simply must do it your way.

You KNEW what I meant when I made that statement. You are purposely trying to twist it and make it seem like it was different. But go ahead and accuse me of whatever. I'm not going to argue with you because this is so typical of you.

Give me a break, Husker. You know damn well what she meant - she was not talking about illnesses/natural causes.

there is nothing in that statement whatsoever about cause of death.
